Job summary

IMAS International School Kuala Lumpur is seeking two passionate Reading Teachers to support early English reading and literacy development for young learners.

Responsibilities include planning engaging lessons, phonics instruction, guided reading, storytelling, and differentiated activities to boost fluency and comprehension. You will monitor progress, maintain records, and collaborate with colleagues to sustain a positive reading culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Early Childhood Education, Linguistics, or related field.
• Experience with Early Years or Lower Primary preferred.
• Strong command of spoken and written English.
• Knowledge of phonics, early literacy, and foundational reading strategies.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver English reading and early literacy lessons for Early Years and Lower Primary.
• Teach phonics, letter sounds, phonemic awareness, blending and segmenting.
• Develop reading fluency, comprehension, pronunciation, and confidence.
• Conduct guided reading, shared reading, storytelling, and interactive literacy activities.
• Differentiate lessons to meet diverse reading abilities and needs.
• Create a warm, safe, engaging classroom environment.
• Monitor progress, conduct assessments, and maintain records.
• Collaborate with colleagues to support learning and foster a positive reading culture.
• Prepare teaching materials and participate in school activities and PD.
