Job summary

Boston Scientific in Malaysia’s Penang region seeks an experienced software engineer to design and develop control software for new manufacturing equipment. You will work across electronics, control, and computer domains, ensuring systems are on-site, validated, and integrated with controllers, vision systems, and SCADA.

The role requires VB.NET/C# programming, AB PLC familiarity, and strong problem-solving skills to support automation in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
Knowledge of automation systems, including PC/PLC-based controls, motion control, and vision systems.
Programming skills in VB.NET and/or C#.
Experience with SQL databases and software troubleshooting/debugging.
Familiarity with Allen-Bradley (AB) PLCs and Aerotech motion control systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to support automation and manufacturing applications.

Responsibilities

Designs and develops software programs for all new equipment and update software for existing equipment where necessary.
Proven track record in the operation of all electronic controlled manufacturing equipment.
Become an expert in each of these systems and ensure hardware and software are on site to support same; maintain and validate per BSIL procedures.
Familiar with software validations and 21 CFR Part 11 issues for electronic records and signatures.
Provide full support to the Equipment Engineering group from electronics, control, computer perspective; design and implement control systems on new equipment/machines.
Support manufacturing teams with troubleshooting during downtime and CIP; train technicians and engineers on the systems; advise equipment builders on control/wiring issues.
Procures standard electrical/software components.
Evaluate new equipment/processes/chemicals for environmental impact and mitigation.
Be familiar with Electrical safety standards and CE marking standards relevant to equipment.
Develop machine control software and integrate with controllers, motion controllers, vision systems, and instrumentation.
Prepare software design specifications and documentation for equipment and systems.
Provide software support to Equipment Design, Maintenance, and Manufacturing groups.
Design database and SCADA systems and interface with machine controllers.
Take ownership of existing PC/Database/SCADA systems on site and drive value-improvement projects.
