Job summary

KCJ Engineering Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to assist in preparing Bill of Quantities, cost estimates, tender documents and value engineering. You will verify quantities through site measurements and coordinate with project teams.

The ideal candidate holds a Diploma/Degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management, fresh graduates welcome, with basic knowledge of BQ, VO, progress claims and Final Account. Proficiency in Excel and common QS software is preferred.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or related field.
• Fresh graduates or 1–2 years of experience in Quantity Surveying encouraged to apply.
• Basic knowledge of quantity take-off, BQ, tendering, progress claims, VO and Final Account.
• Able to read and understand technical drawings, specifications and contract documents.
• Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel.
• Experience with QS software such as AutoCAD, CostX is an advantage.
• Good communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.
• Detail-oriented, organized and comfortable with numbers.
• Able to work independently or as part of a project team.
• Willing to work at project sites and travel when required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing Bill of Quantities (BQ), quantity take-offs and measurements from drawings.
• Assist in preparing project cost estimates, cost breakdowns and tender-related documents.
• Assist in preparing tender and quotation documents and evaluating prices from contractors and suppliers.
• Assist in reviewing contractors’ progress claims based on completed works.
• Assist in preparing and evaluating Variation Orders (VO) and changes to project scope.
• Conduct site measurements to verify quantities and work progress.
• Assist in preparing cost reports, payment records and contract documentation.
• Assist in preparing the Final Account and updating project cost records.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, Site Teams, contractors, subcontractors and relevant parties on cost and contractual matters.
• Assist in monitoring and controlling project costs against the approved budget.
• Review drawings, specifications, contract documents and variation instructions related to project costs.
• Maintain proper records of project costs, contracts, measurements and related documentation.
• Perform other Quantity Surveying duties assigned by management.
