Job summary

Peregrine Broadcast Sdn Bhd is seeking a Junior Broadcast Technology Support Engineer to join our expanding engineering team in Malaysia. You will support three TV stations and contribute to knowledge transfer and documentation within a fast-growing tech company.

The role requires a Diploma or Degree in a related technical discipline or equivalent practical experience, with a focus on broadcast IT infrastructure and workflows.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience in a team supporting Broadcast systems.
  • Diploma or Degree in a related technical discipline or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience supporting technical systems is a nice to have.
  • Knowledge of broadcast IT infrastructure and workflows is preferred.
  • Ability to self-manage time and work ethic is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide prompt, in-depth hands-on technical support of Broadcast systems and services.
  • Manage the lifecycle of all incidents of assigned Broadcast systems and services.
  • Assist other Broadcast Technology teams as directed.
  • Take ownership of design, implementation and support of assigned systems and services.
  • Manage incidents, requests, changes and upgrades of broadcast systems and services.
  • Develop workflows to meet business objectives.
  • Install and configure computer applications.
  • Monitor and maintain computer networks.
  • Document issues and changes with proper reporting.
  • Interact with clients via phone, email or chat with clear instructions.
  • Maintain organised procedural documents and reports.
  • Escalate issues following standard procedures.
  • Follow up with clients to ensure systems function after troubleshooting.
  • Document, track and suggest improvements to procedures and knowledge base.
  • Perform daily monitoring and maintenance of technical systems.

We are expanding our Engineering team and currently looking for Junior Broadcast Technology Support Engineer with a background in engineering and computer science. What you will be doing?

Your key purpose will be to support 3 tv stations that are dependent on systems and services managed by Peregrine Broadcast. You will also contribute to your team with a commitment to knowledge transfer and documentation.

  • Provide prompt, in-depth hands-on technical support of Broadcast systems and services.
  • Manage the lifecycle of all incidents of assigned Broadcast systems and services.
  • Provide assistance to all other Broadcast Technology teams as directed.
  • Take ownership of the design, implementation and support of assigned Broadcast systems and services.
  • Manage the lifecycle of all incidents, requests, change initiatives and system upgrades of assigned Broadcast systems and services.
  • Develop and adapt workflows, systems and services to meet business objectives.
  • Install and configure computer applications.
  • Monitor and maintain computer networks.
  • Resolve issues related to the network and ensure proper documentation of all issues & changes.
  • Prioritize and manage the operational workflows that depend on systems managed.
  • Learn and work with emerging technologies.
  • Act as the first point of contact for clients with issues concerning their broadcast, computer & network systems and equipment.
  • Interact with clients via phone, email or chats in a timely manner and provide concise written/verbal instructions.
  • Maintain organised procedural documents and reports.
  • Follow standard procedures to resolve issues by escalating them to the relevant internal departments.
  • Follow up with clients to ensure their computer systems are functioning properly after troubleshooting.
  • Prepare prompt, accurate, and honest reports.
  • Document, track, and suggest improvements to technical procedures and knowledge in the knowledge database.
  • Perform hands-on monitoring and maintenance of technical systems on a daily basis.

This role may involve regular working hours as well as 12-hour shift rotations, depending on operational requirements. Candidates must be flexible and available to support systems and services as needed, including outside regular hours, on weekends, and during on-call periods.

What we are looking for:
  • 2+ years experience working in a team supporting Broadcast systems.
  • A Diploma or Degree in a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience supporting technical systems is a nice to have.
  • An in-depth knowledge of broadcast video, audio, talkback and communications workflows will be required for the role. Again a nice to have but not essential as we will expect you to grow into this role.
  • An understanding of Broadcast IT infrastructure and workflows.
  • Able to self-manage good time management & strong work ethics, this is a must have.
  • An advantage if you have experience in developing and maintaining technical documentation and team training material.
  • A technical mindset with great attention to detail
