Responsible for managing the end-to-end release lifecycle of banking applications and technology platforms, ensuring releases are properly planned, tested, approved, scheduled and deployed into production with minimal business disruption.
The Release Manager coordinates Project Management, Development, Testing, Infrastructure, Application Support, Change Management, Security and Business teams to ensure successful production releases.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the complete Software Release Management lifecycle from release planning through production deployment and closure.
- Develop and maintain the overall Release Calendar across multiple banking applications and projects.
- Coordinate release schedules across Development, QA, Infrastructure, Security and Business teams.
- Review and validate release scope, deliverables, dependencies and implementation timelines.
- Coordinate application releases, enhancements, patches, fixes and major version upgrades.
- Ensure all release components are properly identified, packaged and ready for deployment.
- Coordinate SIT, UAT, regression, performance and security testing before production release.
- Ensure all critical defects are resolved or formally accepted before Go-Live.
- Coordinate Go-Live Readiness Reviews with relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure required Change Requests are raised, assessed and approved through the bank's Change Management process.
- Coordinate with the Change Manager and CAB for production deployment approvals.
- Develop and maintain:
- Release Plan
- Deployment Plan
- Cutover Plan
- Rollback / Back-out Plan
- Release Checklist
- Coordinate production implementation activities across technical teams.
- Manage release dependencies across multiple applications and interfaces.
- Ensure application, database, infrastructure and middleware components are deployed in the correct sequence.
- Monitor release implementation and coordinate issue resolution during deployment.
- Manage release-related risks, issues and dependencies.
- Ensure successful handover to Application Support / BAU teams.
- Coordinate post-release hypercare and stabilisation activities.
- Conduct Post-Implementation Reviews for major or failed releases.
- Track release performance and KPIs such as:
- Release Success Rate
- Failed Releases
- Rollback Rate
- Emergency Releases
- Release-Related Incidents
- On-Time Release Rate
- Prepare release status reports and management dashboards.
- Ensure releases comply with the bank's IT governance, cybersecurity, risk, audit and regulatory requirements.
- Continuously improve release management processes and automation.

Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field.
- 5-10+ years of experience in Release Management / IT Service Management / Application Delivery.
- Strong experience managing application releases within banking or financial-services environments.
- Strong understanding of SDLC and software release lifecycle.
- Experience coordinating multiple application and technical teams.
- Strong understanding of SIT, UAT, regression and production validation.
- Experience with Change Management and CAB processes.
- Good understanding of CI/CD and DevOps practices.
- Experience managing release risks, dependencies and implementation plans.
- Strong stakeholder and vendor management skills.
- Excellent communication, coordination and reporting skills.
- Ability to manage high-pressure production deployment situations.
