Job summary

TechNext is seeking an IT Manager to own our technology stack in Penang, Malaysia. You’ll run the infrastructure and the Odoo platform, lead the technical delivery of Odoo projects for our clients, and provide DevOps support to Penang operations.

You’ll report to the General Manager, manage a small team, and coordinate with stakeholders across time zones while ensuring security, reliability and efficient IT operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.
• 5+ years IT experience, including 2+ years managing people or teams.
• Hands-on experience administering or implementing Odoo ERP.
• Practical DevOps experience: CI/CD pipelines, Git, Linux servers, and deploying and monitoring applications.
• Strong knowledge of network infrastructure, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or Google Cloud) and cybersecurity practices.
• Clear communication with both technical and non-technical people, plus leadership skills.

IT Manager

Full-time · Supports DevOps in Penang, Malaysia

We're looking for an IT Manager to own our technology from end to end. You'll run the infrastructure and Odoo platform that keep our business running, and lead the technical delivery of Odoo projects for our clients. You'll also provide DevOps support to our Penang operations. You'll report to the General Manager and lead a small team made up of our Project Manager and our AI Technical Sales Consultant.

Support DevOps for Penang

• Provide DevOps support to the Penang team: deployment pipelines, environment management, releases and monitoring.

• Maintain CI/CD workflows, staging and production environments, and version control practices for Odoo and custom modules.

• Work with Penang stakeholders across time zones, and travel to Penang when needed.

Own IT infrastructure and security

• Oversee our network, hardware, software and cloud systems.

• Set and enforce IT policies, security protocols and data management standards, including Data Privacy Act compliance.

• Monitor system health and resolve issues before they affect the business.

Lead the team and work with the business

• Manage, coach and develop the Project Manager and AI Technical Sales Consultant.

• Give technical guidance and support to every department.

• Prepare regular IT reports and system performance summaries for the GM.

Manage tools and vendors

• Evaluate and recommend technology that improves how we operate.

• Coordinate IT procurement and manage vendors for hardware, software and hosting.

What you'll bring

Must-haves

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.

• At least 5 years of IT experience, including 2 or more years managing people or teams.

• Hands‑on experience administering or implementing Odoo ERP.

• Practical DevOps experience: CI/CD pipelines, Git, Linux servers, and deploying and monitoring applications.

• Strong knowledge of network infrastructure, cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure or Google Cloud) and cybersecurity practices.

• Clear communication with both technical and non-technical people, plus strong analytical and leadership skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes or infrastructure‑as‑code tools such as Terraform or Ansible.

• Experience supporting distributed or overseas teams, especially in Malaysia.

• Experience leading cross‑functional projects or client‑facing technical delivery.

• A project management certification such as PMP or PRINCE2.

• Odoo certification, or experience with AI and automation tools.

• Willingness to travel to Penang from time to time.
