Job summary

LINKTRIX Consultants, Asia Pacific is seeking an experienced IT Engineer in Penang, Malaysia to join its growing technical team. This full‑time role focuses on maintaining, supporting, and optimizing our network and systems infrastructure to ensure reliability, security, and performance across the organization.

You will design and implement network solutions, troubleshoot issues, manage security controls, backups, and disaster recovery, and collaborate with the IT team on system improvements.

Qualifications

• Diploma/degree in IT or related field.
• 2–3 years in network and systems administration.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and VPN.
• Experience with Windows Server and/or Linux.
• Experience with firewalls, routers and switches.
• Security, vulnerability management and cybersecurity best practices.
• Experience with virtualization technologies and cloud infrastructure.
• Good problem-solving, communication and teamwork.
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+ desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain network infrastructure and systems across the organization.

• Provide technical support to end-users, diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues.
• Manage user access controls, security protocols and system permissions.
• Install, configure and update operating systems, applications and system software.

• Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, systems and IT infrastructure.
• Collaborate with other IT team members to identify and implement system improvements.
• Ensure compliance with data security standards and IT policies.
• Assist in procurement, evaluation and deployment of new IT hardware and software solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Diploma or degree qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field
• Minimum 2-3 years of professional experience in network and systems administration
• Strong knowledge of network protocols, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and VPN technologies
• Experience with Windows Server and/or Linux operating systems
• Proficiency in managing firewalls, routers and switches
• Competency in system security, vulnerability management and cybersecurity best practices
• Experience with virtualization technologies and cloud-based infrastructure
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Excellent communication abilities and capacity to work effectively within a team
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified Associate (MCA) or equivalent qualifications are highly desirable
• Willingness to undertake on-call support duties as required
• Willingness to work in a start-up environment, demonstrating adaptability, flexibility and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving organization.
