Job summary

Southern Medical Group – Johor Bahru is seeking a junior interior design intern to assist in developing concepts, space planning, and 3D visualisations. You will prepare 2D drawings, elevations, and joinery details while coordinating site visits and supplier interactions.

You will learn to source materials, prepare quotations, and present designs to clients, with supervision from the Senior Designer or Project Manager. Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.

Qualifications

• Minimum SPM, Diploma, or equivalent qualification.
• Passed Bahasa Malaysia, English, and Chinese subjects in SPM.
• Able to communicate, read, and write in Mandarin, English, and Bahasa Malaysia.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
• Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Responsible, trustworthy, and able to maintain strict confidentiality.
• Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing interior design concepts, space planning, floor plans, layouts, and 3D visualisations.
• Prepare and revise 2D technical drawings, elevations, joinery details, and other design documentation.
• Assist with site measurements, site visits, and site coordination. Source and select suitable materials, finishes, furniture, lighting, and accessories according to project requirements and budget.
• Assist in preparing quotations, presentations, material boards, project documents, and other design-related materials.
• Communicate with clients to understand their design requirements, preferences, and expectations.
• Assist in presenting design concepts and material selections to clients and following up on feedback and approvals.
• Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, carpenters, installers, and site teams to ensure smooth project execution.
• Monitor project progress and assist with follow-ups from design development through to project completion.
• Assist in resolving design, carpentry, material, and site coordination issues.
• Conduct research on interior design trends, materials, and creative design solutions.
• Learn and gain hands-on experience in the complete interior design workflow from concept development to project completion.
• Perform other design and project-related duties as assigned by the Senior Designer or Project Manager.
