Job summary

Metcal Technologies invites a Calibration Intern who is pursuing a technical education in Electronics or Mechanical Engineering to join our metrology team in Malaysia. You will learn calibration principles, perform routine checks, and maintain detailed documentation in a lab setting.

You will support quality and metrology teams, gain hands-on experience with measuring tools, and contribute to compliance with ISO standards while developing foundational skills in data analysis and calibration

Qualifications

• Must be pursuing a technical education in electronics, mechanical engineering, or related field.
• Demonstrates attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and record-keeping.
• Proficient communication and interpersonal skills are required.
• Basic knowledge of calibration principles, techniques and standards.
• Proficiency with measurement tools and calibration software.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine calibration checks on measuring tools and equipment.
• Maintain calibration logs and update certificates with 'as-found' and 'as-left' data.
• Assist with equipment verification and preventive maintenance.
• Help manage tool crib inventories and organize storage of measurement equipment.
• Learn and follow SOPs compliant with quality standards (ISO/IEC 17025/ISO 9001).
• Assist senior technicians with minor repairs and troubleshooting as needed.

Responsibility

The Calibration Intern supports the quality and metrology teams by performing routine equipment checks, maintaining calibration logs, and ensuring tools meet required accuracy standards. This hands‑on role builds foundational skills in measurement science, data analysis, and quality compliance within a lab or manufacturing setting.

• Equipment Support: Assist with routine calibration, verification, and preventive maintenance of measuring and testing tools (e.g., pressure gauges, thermometers, multimeters).
• Documentation & Labeling: Record "as-found" and "as-left" data, update calibration logs, issue certificates, and affix proper calibration due‑date labels on equipment.
• Lab Organization: Help manage tool crib inventories, organize measurement equipment storage, and prepare instruments for testing.
• Quality Compliance: Learn and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) in compliance with quality management standards like ISO/IEC 17025 or ISO 9001.
• Assisting Repairs: Help troubleshoot minor equipment malfunctions or prepare faulty tools for repair by senior technicians.
• To perform any other duties as determined by the Management, which is considered beneficial to the Company and within your capabilities, without detriment or bringing injury to yourself.
