Job summary

Ultimate Manufacturing Solutions (M) Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern for a contract-based internship based in Simpang Ampat, Penang. You will work with senior engineers on civil and structural projects, perform site inspections, create CAD drawings, and contribute to project reports and documentation.

The role focuses on hands-on learning, applying academic knowledge to real-world engineering tasks, and developing professional skills in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in or recently completed a Civil/Structural engineering degree.
• Interest in civil/structural design, site surveys and documentation.
• Basic CAD skills or willingness to learn quickly.

Responsibilities

• Assist design, analysis and development of civil/structural projects under supervision.
• Conduct site inspections and surveys for data collection and feasibility.
• Prepare technical drawings using CAD software and other tools.
• Support preparation of project reports and specifications.
• Assist in structural calculations, load assessments and material specs.
• Participate in project meetings and contribute ideas for problem solving.
• Help monitor progress and maintain activity records.
• Assist with QA, safety compliance on site and office.
• Undertake ad-hoc tasks and administrative duties as needed.

About the role

Ultimate Manufacturing Solutions (M) Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Civil Engineering Intern to join our team on a contract basis. Based in Simpang Ampat, Penang, this internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in civil and structural engineering within a dynamic manufacturing environment. You will work alongside experienced professionals, applying theoretical knowledge to real-world projects and contributing meaningfully to our engineering initiatives. This role is designed to provide valuable hands-on experience and professional development in the civil engineering field.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the design, analysis and development of civil and structural engineering projects under the supervision of senior engineers
• Conduct site inspections and surveys to gather data relevant to project requirements and feasibility
• Prepare technical drawings, sketches and documentation using CAD software and other engineering tools
• Support the preparation of project reports, specifications and technical documentation
• Assist in performing calculations and analysis for structural designs, load assessments and material specifications
• Participate in project meetings and contribute ideas to problem-solving discussions
• Help monitor project progress and maintain records of project activities and milestones
• Support quality assurance and safety compliance activities on site and in the office
• Undertake ad-hoc engineering tasks and administrative duties as assigned by the team

What we’re looking for

• Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree programme in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related engineering discipline
• Strong understanding of civil and structural engineering principles, building codes and industry standards
• Proficiency in CAD software (such as AutoCAD, Revit or similar tools) or willingness to quickly develop these skills
• Excellent mathematical and analytical skills with attention to detail
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Ability to follow instructions, learn quickly and adapt to new challenges
• Familiarity with project management concepts and practices
• Commitment to health and safety standards and best practices
