Job summary

HOMA ENGINEERING (M) SDN BHD is seeking an enthusiastic Intern Quantity Surveyor for a full-time internship based in Kuala Lumpur City Centre. You will support the QS team in cost management, project estimation, and contract administration, gaining hands-on experience on real construction projects.

This internship offers mentorship from experienced quantity surveyors, exposure to cost reporting, valuations, and BIM/QS software tools, with opportunities to develop technical and professional

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated with a degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related construction discipline.
• Good mathematical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work in a team.
• Basic understanding of construction practices, materials and methodologies.
• Willingness to learn and develop professional knowledge in quantity surveying.
• Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise tasks.
• Familiarity with BIM or quantity surveying software would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing bills of quantities and cost estimates for construction projects.
• Support measurement and quantification of construction materials and work items.
• Conduct site visits to gather information and monitor progress.
• Assist in analyzing contract documents and tender specifications.
• Support interim valuations and payment certificates preparations.
• Liaise with contractors and other stakeholders on cost-related matters.
• Maintain project cost records and documentation.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Intern Quantity Surveyor to join HOMA ENGINEERING (M) SDN BHD. This is a full-time internship position based in Kuala Lumpur City Centre, offering an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in the surveying and construction industry. As an Intern Quantity Surveyor, you will support our experienced quantity surveying team whilst developing your technical knowledge and professional skills in construction cost management, project estimation, and contract administration. This role is instrumental in helping us deliver accurate cost analyses and valuations on our construction projects.

What you'll be doing

• Assisting in the preparation of bills of quantities and cost estimates for construction projects
• Supporting the measurement and quantification of construction materials and work items
• Conducting site visits to gather information and monitor project progress
• Assisting in the analysis of contract documents and tender specifications
• Supporting the preparation of interim valuations and payment certificates
• Liaising with contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders on cost-related matters
• Maintaining project documentation and cost records in an organised manner
• Assisting with the preparation of cost reports and financial summaries
• Learning and applying quantity surveying software and tools used in the industry

What we're looking for

• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree programme in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related construction discipline
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team
• Basic understanding of construction practices, materials, and methodologies
• Willingness to learn and develop professional knowledge in quantity surveying
• Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise tasks
• Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modelling) software or quantity surveying applications would be advantageous
• Valid driving licence and own transport is preferred for site visits
