Job summary

Balens Design in Malaysia is seeking a 3D Designer who moves beyond drafting to bring spaces to life. You will create accurate 3D models, shell plans, and visual mood boards that ensure concepts are visually stunning and site-ready.

You will work with interior designers, read 2D AutoCAD, and produce photorealistic renders using 3ds Max or SketchUp. A diploma or degree in Interior Design or Architecture is preferred, with 1–3 years of experience in residential interiors.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of interior design or 3D visualization experience.
• Diploma or degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field.
• Experience in residential interior design, especially landed homes.
• Proficient in 3ds Max, SketchUp, or similar software.
• Ability to read and interpret 2D AutoCAD drawings.
• Strong ability to curate mood boards and material palettes.
• Portfolio includes technical drawings and not only renders.
• Strong design intuition and attention to buildability.

Responsibilities

• Produce high-quality, photorealistic 3D interior renders using 3ds Max, SketchUp, or equivalent software.
• Configure realistic lighting setups (natural daylight, artificial fixtures, ambient warmth) and apply accurate material textures.
• Conduct post-production enhancement on rendered imagery using Photoshop or AI-assisted tools to refine color balance, contrast, and visual polish.
• Convert drawings, site measurement sheets, and architectural blue layouts into accurate 3D massing/shell plans (isometric and top-down floor plan views).
• Model structural constraints—including wall thicknesses, ceiling heights, door/window openings, and fixed structural columns to ensure spatial scale is precise.
• Position loose furniture, custom joinery, and interior fixtures within the 3D model to establish clear traffic flow and functional spatial planning before final detailing.
• Translate rough sketches, verbal briefs, and designer ideas into structured visual concepts.
• Curate digital design mood boards featuring material samples, color palettes, furniture references, and lighting styles to communicate design direction clearly.
• Access, read, and cross-reference 2D AutoCAD files to extract exact dimensions, wall placements, and technical references needed to construct 3D models.
• Coordinate with interior designers and project leads to ensure 3D visuals align with actual project budgets, material availabilities, and physical construction logic.

• Configure realistic lighting setups (natural daylight, artificial fixtures, ambient warmth) and apply accurate material textures (wood grains, marbles, fabrics, metals) to reflect buildable outcomes.
• Conduct post-production enhancement on rendered imagery using Adobe Photoshop or AI-assisted tools to refine color balance, contrast, and visual polish.
• Convert drawings, site measurement sheets, and architectural blue layouts into accurate 3D massing/shell plans (isometric and top-down floor plan views).

About you

• 1 to 3 years of interior design industry experience as an Interior Designer or 3D Visualizer preferred (entry-level candidates with strong portfolios are welcome to apply).
• Diploma or Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
• Experience in residential interior design, especially landed homes, is required.
• Proficient in 3ds Max, SketchUp, or similar 3D software to create accurate 3D spatial shell plans and interior perspectives.
• Ability to navigate and read 2D AutoCAD drawing files to extract dimensions and structural references for 3D modeling.
• Skilled in curating aesthetic mood boards, material palettes, and visual concepts to effectively communicate design ideas.
• Possesses strong design intuition and practical common sense when interpreting and modeling spaces.
• Basic construction knowledge and understanding of buildability.
• Portfolio must show technical drawings, not only 3D renders.
• Stronger candidates should be able to complete full drawing sets independently with minimal correction.
