Job Vacancy: Project Engineer M&E / Inspector of Works (M&E)

We are seeking motivated and technically competent Project Engineers M&E and IOW M&E to join our project engineering team. The successful candidates will be responsible for the design, coordination, supervision, and technical delivery of mechanical and electrical building services across various projects.

The role involves working closely with clients, contractors, authorities, and consultants to ensure that M&E systems are designed and implemented in accordance with project requirements, relevant standards, and statutory regulations.

• Supervise and coordinate M&E installation works at project sites
• Ensuring works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and project requirements.
• Monitor daily site activities, work progress, manpower, materials, and equipment.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, engineers, and other related parties.
• Conduct regular site inspections for workmanship, installation quality, and safety requirements.
• Review and interpret M&E drawings, shop drawings, specifications, and installation details.
• Assist the project team in testing and commissioning (T&C) activities and the rectification of outstanding works.
• Monitor and follow up on site issues, technical queries, inspections, testing, and rectification works.
• Maintain proper daily site records, progress reports, inspection records, and site documentation.
• Coordinate M&E designs with architectural, structural, civil, and other engineering disciplines.
• Prepare drawings, tender documentation, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates.
• Attend project meetings and coordinate with clients, contractors, suppliers, and relevant authorities.
• Conduct site inspections and monitor M&E installation works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and applicable standards.
• Review shop drawings, material submissions, method statements, technical submissions, and contractor proposals.
• Identify technical issues and provide practical engineering solutions.
• Assist in testing, commissioning, inspection, and handover of M&E systems.
• Monitor project progress and assist in ensuring works are delivered within the required quality, cost, and programme requirements.
• Ensure designs and site works comply with applicable codes, regulations, and authority requirements.
• Prepare technical reports, progress reports, inspection reports, and other project documentation.
• Support senior engineers and project managers in the successful delivery of projects.

Requirements For Project Engineers M&E

• Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Preferably 3–5 years of relevant experience in an M&E engineering background, contractor, or construction environment.
• Site-based in Johor; must be willing to travel to project sites.
• Willingness to attend project sites and undertake site inspections when required.
• Possess own transportation and be willing to travel or work at outstation project sites when required.
• Candidates with experience in Data Centres, Design & Build, Power Systems, HVAC, or Critical Infrastructure projects will have an added advantage
• Good knowledge of building mechanical and electrical systems.
• Familiarity with relevant local codes, standards, and authority requirements.
• Experience in preparing engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or other engineering design software will be an advantage.
• Good analytical, problem solving, and coordination skills.
• Able to communicate effectively with clients, consultants, contractors.
• Able to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Proficient in both written and oral English, Bahasa Malaysia.

2) Responsibilities IOW M&E

• Supervise and inspect daily Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) works carried out on site.
• Ensure all construction activities are executed in accordance with approved drawings, technical specifications, and method statements.
• Assist the Engineer,Client and Others in site supervision and quality control activities.
• Inspect and verify M&E installation works carried out on site.
• Ensure M&E quality control tests are conducted in a timely manner and that test results comply with the required specifications.
• Inspect workmanship quality and materials before and during construction to ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Witness and verify various tests, including insulation resistance tests, equipment factory acceptance tests (FAT), and other relevant M&E testing and commissioning activities.
• Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and project specifications.
• Verify work quality and ensure that construction materials and methods meet the approved plans and standards.
• Ensure adherence to timelines, detecting and addressing any delays or issues that could affect project completion.
• Inspect work for defects or potential issues and make recommendations for corrections.
• Oversee daily construction activities and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Maintain all relevant forms, documents, correspondences and records about the works.
• Review all construction drawings and specifications, method statement, material submission for approval.
• Review construction plans and specifications to ensure they comply with local and national codes and standards.
• Report and findings to project manager or management and provide recommendation for corrective actions if necessary.
• Assist to provide site progress reports to client and superior for project status and development

Requirements For IOW M&E

• Registered with the Board of Engineers (BEM) as an Inspector of Works
• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineeering, Building Services Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
• Minimum 3-5 years of relevant working experience as Inspector of Works (IOW), Site Supervisor, Clerk of Works or in M&E construction projects is preferred.
• Knowledge of M&E systems including HVAC, fire protection, electrical distribution and ELV systems.
• Site-based in Johor; must be willing to travel to project sites.
• Willingness to attend project sites and undertake site inspections when required.
• Possess own transportation and be willing to travel or work at outstation project sites when required.
• Understanding of construction drawings, specifications and site coordination processes.
• Good communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.
• Able to work independently and as part of a site team.
• Good analytical, problem solving, and coordination skills.
