Job summary

Maverick United Consulting Engineers, based in Kuala Lumpur, invites applications for the Inspector of Works position in Malaysia, with duties at project sites in Johor Bahru. You will conduct daily site inspections, supervise Civil & Structural works, coordinate drawings, and liaise with clients and consultants to resolve discrepancies.

The successful candidate holds a Civil Engineering degree or diploma, is registered with BEM, possesses IOW certification, and has 2–5 years of on-site

Qualifications

• Diploma/degree in Civil Engineering; registered with Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).
• Possess a valid Inspector of Works (IOW) Certificate and 2–5 years of site supervision experience.
• Strong Civil & Structural engineering knowledge, incl. British Standards, Eurocodes, local requirements.
• Ability to prepare technical correspondence and reports; strong analytical/coordination skills.
• Good communication in English and Bahasa Malaysia; able to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily site inspections to ensure Civil & Structural works comply with drawings, specs and quality standards.
• Monitor workmanship, materials, and construction activities to ensure safety and project requirements.
• Coordinate and review architectural, structural, and M&E drawings with stakeholders.
• Attend site and coordination meetings, providing technical support and progress updates.
• Prepare daily progress reports, quality inspection records, and defect reports, tracking rectification works.

Job Duties

• Conduct daily site inspections to ensure Civil & Structural (C&S) works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
• Monitor contractors' workmanship, materials, and construction activities to ensure compliance with safety regulations and project requirements.
• Coordinate and review architectural, structural, and M&E drawings, highlighting and resolving any discrepancies with relevant stakeholders.
• Attend site and coordination meetings with clients, contractors, and consultants, providing technical support and project updates.
• Prepare daily progress reports, quality inspection records, and defect reports, while monitoring rectification works to ensure timely completion.
  

Job Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering and registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).
• Possess a valid Inspector of Works (IOW) Certificate and at least 2 to 5 years of hands‑on site supervision experience.
• Strong knowledge of Civil & Structural engineering practices, including British Standards, Eurocodes, and local authority requirements.
• Ability to prepare technical correspondence, site reports, and defect reports, with strong analytical and coordination skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia, with the ability to work independently and under pressure.
