Job summary

Epsom College Malaysia invites an IT Support professional to help maintain and secure the school's IT infrastructure. You will work with the IT team to ensure reliable networks, servers, and client devices, delivering timely support to staff and students.

The role requires a Diploma/ Degree in Computer Science or IT and at least 1 year of hands-on IT experience. Prior work with Mac OS X, education software and network devices is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Computer Science, Computer Technology, Information Technology or equivalent.
• At least 1 year hands-on IT work experience.
• Experience with Mac OS X, education software (ISAMS, OA, SOCS) and data protection considered an advantage.
• Strong networking knowledge including Cisco and HP equipment.
• Excellent communication, teamwork and time management; ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance of IT equipment and network infrastructure to ensure smooth operations.
• Assist deployment, monitoring, maintenance, upgrades and support of all IT systems (servers, PCs, OS, telephones, software, peripherals).
• Provide day-to-day technical support to staff and assist in upgrades, migrations and file maintenance.
• Maintain servers, security solutions, network hardware and devices; monitor network performance and address issues.

Job description

Play a vital role in maintaining and supporting the school’s Information Technology (IT) infrastructure. This position requires a proactive individual with a solid understanding of computer systems, networks, and technical support processes. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with the IT team to ensure efficient operation and security of all IT equipment and systems, contributing to a productive work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

To oversee the overall maintenance of IT equipment and network infrastructure to ensure smooth operations.

Person Specification:

• At least a Diploma/ Degree in Computer Science, Computer Technology, Information Technology, or equivalent.
• At least one (1) year of hands-on working experience in the information technology work environment.
• Advantages to those who have experience in handling Mac OS X, education software (ideally ISAMS, OA and SOCS), and Data Protection legislation.
• Hands-on experience with computer networks, network administration, network installation, and network devices such as Cisco and HP products.
• Candidates must have strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work on tight deadlines, good time management, the ability to prioritise/multi-task, and be able to work under pressure. Good team player with great communication skills.
• Excellent knowledge of technical management, information analysis, and computer hardware/software systems

Specific Tasks:

• Perform tasks as directed and perform daily reports to the Information Technology Manager.
• Assist the Information Technology team in the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all IT systems, including servers, personal computers, operating systems, telephones, software applications, and peripherals.
• Provide support during systems upgrades, installations, migrations, and file maintenance.
• Provide day-to-day technical support to all staff.
• Assist in maintaining servers, security solutions, network hardware, and equipment.
• Maintains network performance by performing network monitoring, analysis and performance tuning.
• Evaluating network performance issues, including availability, utilisation, throughput, and latency.
• Perform other duties as and when required by the immediate superior and Headmaster.
