Job summary

Sunway Medical Centre in Subang Jaya is seeking a dedicated Infection Control professional to lead hospital-wide IPC measures. You will conduct surveillance, analyze infection trends, and provide actionable recommendations to reduce healthcare-associated infections.

You will develop and deliver education, coordinate audits, and collaborate with clinical and operational teams to uphold MOH/CDC/WHO guidelines and ensure patient safety.

Qualifications

• Must possess Post Basic in Infection Control and Diploma in Nursing from recognized institutions.
• Well-versed with MOH, WHO, CDC infection control guidelines.
• Knowledge of accreditation requirements on infection control practices.

Responsibilities

• Conduct HCAI and targeted surveillance, analyze infection trends, prepare periodic reports, and provide recommendations to reduce healthcare-associated infections.
• Investigate suspected and confirmed infectious disease outbreaks, conduct contact tracing, and coordinate infection prevention measures.
• Ensure infection prevention practices comply with regulatory/accreditation requirements and WHO guidelines.
• Promote and monitor evidence-based infection prevention practices, control measures, and safe handling of hazardous substances.
• Assess training needs and provide infection control education, orientation, campaigns, and awareness programs for staff, patients, and families.
• Conduct environmental surveillance, interpret findings, and provide recommendations to manage infection risks.
• Participate in audits, develop audit tools, analyze findings, and disseminate reports.
• Use surveillance/audit findings to improve policies and clinical practices.

Job description

• Conduct HCAI and targeted surveillance, analyze infection trends, prepare periodic reports, and provide recommendations to reduce healthcare-associated infections.
• Investigate suspected and confirmed infectious disease outbreaks, conduct contact tracing, and coordinate appropriate infection prevention and control measures.
• Ensure infection prevention and control practices comply with regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as relevant CDC and WHO guidelines.
• Promote and monitor evidence-based infection control practices, care bundles, environmental hygiene, isolation precautions, and safe handling of hazardous and biological substances.
• Assess training needs and provide infection control and antimicrobial stewardship education, orientation, campaigns, and awareness programs for staff, patients, and families.
• Conduct targeted and event-related environmental microbiological surveillance, interpret findings, and provide recommendations to manage potential infection risks.
• Conduct and participate in internal and external infection control audits, develop audit tools, analyze findings, and disseminate audit reports.
• Use surveillance and audit findings to recommend improvements to policies, procedures, clinical practices, and infection prevention strategies.
• Provide support for the assessment, investigation, follow-up, and documentation of occupational and patient exposure incidents.
• Maintain accurate infection control records and documentation, participate in relevant committees and multidisciplinary initiatives, and collaborate with clinical and operational teams to promote patient safety.
