Private Advertiser in Bayan Lepas, Penang, is seeking an Industrial Relations Officer to join our HR team. The role focuses on handling IR/ER matters, disciplinary processes and ensuring compliance with Malaysian labour laws.
The ideal candidate may have 1–2 years of HR experience or be a fresh graduate with strong interest in HR/IR. You will maintain thorough records, liaise with authorities, and support continuous professional development within a collaborative team.
We are looking for an Industrial Relations Officer to join our HR team in Bayan Lepas, Penang. This role is suitable for candidates with 1-2 years of experience in Human Resources, Industrial Relations and/or Employee Relations, as well as fresh graduates who are keen to build their career in HR and IR.
The position offers hands-on exposure to disciplinary matters, employee grievances, Domestic Inquiry (DI), labour law compliance and other employee relations matters, providing a great opportunity to develop practical HR and IR experience within a supportive team environment.
Assist in handling Industrial Relations (IR) and Employee Relations (ER) matters.
Support disciplinary processes, including preparation of show-cause letters, warning letters, inquiry documents and other disciplinary correspondence.
Assist in handling employee misconduct, absenteeism, grievances, workplace disputes and other employee relations matters.
Support and coordinate Domestic Inquiry (DI) processes when required.
Assist in matters involving termination, resignation, poor performance and disciplinary action.
Liaise with relevant government authorities, including the Labour Department (JTK) and Industrial Relations Department (JPP), when required.
Maintain proper documentation and records for disciplinary and IR cases.
Assist in reviewing HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Malaysian labour laws.
Keep updated on changes in employment and industrial relations legislation.
Support the company on other employee relations and compliance matters as required.
Diploma or Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Law, Business Administration or any related field.
1-2 years of relevant working experience in Human Resources, Industrial Relations and/or Employee Relations is preferred.
Fresh graduates with a strong interest in Human Resources and Industrial Relations are encouraged to apply.
Basic to good knowledge of the Employment Act 1955, Industrial Relations Act 1967 and Malaysian employment practices.
Exposure to disciplinary cases, show-cause letters, warning letters, Domestic Inquiry or employee grievances is an advantage.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Good documentation, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Able to handle confidential and sensitive employee matters professionally.
Willing to learn and develop further in the Industrial Relations field.
Proficiency in Mandarin will be an added advantage.
