Job summary

Confidential, a leading Malaysian manufacturing group, seeks an experienced Industrial Relations professional to shape group-wide IR strategies, ensure labour law compliance, and foster positive employee relations across the business.

You will lead corporate IR initiatives, handle investigations and disciplinary matters, liaise with government authorities, and train line managers on employment legislation and IR practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline (HRM, Industrial Relations, Law).
• 8–10 years of Industrial Relations experience, preferably in manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of employment legislation, IR acts, and safety laws.
• Experience with investigations, disciplinary actions, and disputes.
• Experience with government authorities and conciliations is an advantage.

What You'll Be Doing:

Corporate Industrial Relations

• Lead and drive corporate IR initiatives and projects aligned with business objectives.
• Review, enhance, and implement IR policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with employment legislation and best practices.
• Provide strategic IR advice and guidance to management, HR Business Partners, and line managers.

Industrial Relations Management

• Lead end-to-end management of industrial relations matters, including employee misconduct investigations, disciplinary actions, domestic inquiries, grievances, and case resolution.
• Partner with HR Business Partners and business leaders on performance management cases involving IR matters.
• Represent the company in conciliations, investigations, and proceedings with relevant government authorities, including the Labour Department, Industrial Relations Department, Industrial Court, and other regulatory bodies.
• Work closely with external legal counsel on employment-related disputes and litigation where required.
• Develop and conduct IR awareness programmes, training, and communication sessions to strengthen people managers' understanding of employment legislation and IR best practices.
• Analyse IR trends, identify root causes, and recommend continuous improvement initiatives to minimise employee relations risks.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, Law, or a related discipline.
• At least 8–10 years of Industrial Relations experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of the Employment Act, Industrial Relations Act, Occupational Safety and Health Act, and other relevant employment legislation.
• Proven experience handling investigations, disciplinary cases, domestic inquiries, grievances, and employment-related disputes.
• Experience dealing with government authorities, conciliations, and Industrial Court matters is an added advantage.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, conflict resolution, stakeholder management, and analytical skills.
• Able to work independently, manage sensitive matters with professionalism, and provide sound IR advice to management.
