Job summary

Flex in Prai, Penang, Malaysia is seeking an Industrial Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers and technicians in developing labor standards and optimizing plant layouts. You will analyze production data to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and drive cost reductions across operations.

The role requires strong leadership, extensive engineering experience, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to design manufacturable products and robust production planning systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related engineering field or equivalent experience.
• Master's degree or MBA preferred.
• 7+ years of engineering experience including supervision.

Responsibilities

• Manages a team of engineers and technicians to establish work measurement programs and develops labor standards.
• Evaluates staff utilization, facility layout, and production data to optimize worker and equipment use.
• Recommends methods to improve efficiency and reduce waste, including restructuring workflows and equipment relocation.
• Develops management systems for cost reviews, financial planning, wage, and job evaluation.
• Designs or improves production planning, control systems, and plant location decisions.
• Partners with other engineers to design manufacturable new products.
• Drives initiatives to increase throughput, reduce cost, and improve performance in constrained areas.
• Implements HR strategies to recruit and retain a qualified workforce.

Job description

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add an Industrial Engineering Manager located in Prai, Penang.

What a typical day looks like:

• Manages a team of engineers and technicians to establish work measurement programs and evaluates work samples to develop standards for labor utilization.
• Evaluates staff utilization, facility layout, and operational data, such as production costs, process flow charts, and production schedules, to define efficient utilization of workers and equipment.
• Recommends methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities, such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing workflow, relocation work stations and equipment, and purchase of equipment.
• May develop management systems for cost reviews, financial planning, wage and salary administration, and job evaluation
• Develops management control systems to aid in financial planning and cost reviews, and design production planning and control systems to coordinate activities and ensure product quality.
• Designs or improve systems for the physical distribution of goods and services, as well as defining the most efficient plant locations.
• Organizes details into a broad view of the total operations and organization of Flex.
• Partners with other engineering team members to design manufacturable new products
• Manages initiatives to increase throughput, reduce cost and improve performance in constrained areas.
• Implements appropriate HR strategies and actions to recruit and retain a qualified and motivated workforce

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

• Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience and training. A Master's or MBA Degree is preferred.
• Typically requires 7 years of engineering experience including supervision.
