Job summary

Flex is seeking an Industrial Engineer for Prai, Penang to boost productivity by optimizing processes, layouts and methods. The role centers on coordinating NPI process planning, analyzing data and applying LEAN, automation and 6Sigma principles to improve throughput.

You will collaborate with engineering and management, support cost analysis and production planning, and help establish efficient plant operations while ensuring quality and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent education.
• 1–2 years of engineering experience in high-tech electronics.
• Experience with LEAN, process optimization and cost reduction.

Responsibilities

• Simulates process, materials and manufacturing workflow using REFA, MOST, or WITNESS.
• Coordinates process planning for NPI with takt, cycle time and direct labor needs.
• Reviews prototype results and provides feedback to NPI and sales teams.
• Analyzes workforce utilization, layouts, and production data to optimize resources.
• Suggests methods to improve worker efficiency and reduce waste.
• Collaborates with management to implement plans and recommendations.
• Develops cost analysis and production planning systems.
• Helps design distribution systems and determine plant locations.
• Leads initiatives to raise throughput and reduce costs in LEAN, Automation or 6Sigma projects.

Industrial Engineer in Prai, Penang

This role is responsible for increasing productivity through the management of workers, methods of business organization, and technology to solve organizational, production, and related problems efficiently.

What a typical day looks like:

• Simulates process, materials and manufacturing workflow and gives input to process engineer by using REFA, MOST, WITNESS and or adequate tools.
• During NPI coordinates process planning and set up with respect to takt, cycle time and direct labor requirement.
• Reviews result during prototyping and trial runs and gives feedback to NPI and sales team.
• Analyzes work force utilization, facility layout, and operational data, such as production costs, process flow charts, and production schedules, to determine efficient utilization of workers and equipment.
• Recommends methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities, such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing work flow, relocation work stations and equipment, and purchase of equipment.
• Confers with management and engineering staff to implement plans and recommendations.
• May develop management systems for cost analysis, financial planning, wage and salary administration, and job evaluation.
• Develops management control systems to aid in financial planning and cost analysis, and design production planning and control systems to coordinate activities and ensure product quality.
• Designs or improve systems for the physical distribution of goods and services, as well as determining the most efficient plant locations.
• Leads and supports initiatives to increase throughput, reduce cost and improve performance in constrained areas like LEAN, Automation and/or 6Sigma projects.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

• Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in a related field, technical training, or equivalent education and training.
• Typically requires 1-2 years of experience in engineering in the high technology electronics industry or related area.
