Job summary

Flex is seeking a Senior Industrial Engineer for Prai, Penang to boost productivity by guiding workers, methods, and technology. You will analyze process flows, layout, and cost drivers to improve throughput and quality.

The role involves coordinating NPI, supporting lean initiatives, and collaborating with management to implement cost-saving measures across production. A bachelor's degree and 5 years in high-tech electronics are typical requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent.
• 5 years of engineering experience in the high technology electronics industry or related area.
• Experience leading LEAN, Automation and Six Sigma projects.
• Ability to analyze production data and drive improvements.

Responsibilities

• Simulates process, materials and manufacturing workflow using REFA, MOST, WITNESS or equivalent tools.
• Coordinates process planning and setup for NPI with takt and cycle time considerations.
• Reviews prototyping results and provides feedback to NPI and sales teams.
• Analyzes workforce utilization, facility layout, and production schedules to optimize resources.
• Recommends methods to improve worker efficiency and reduce waste of materials and utilities.
• Leads initiatives to increase throughput and reduce costs in constrained areas (LEAN, Automation, Six Sigma).

we’re looking to add a Senior Industrial Engineer in Prai, Penang.

This role is responsible for increasing productivity through the management of workers, methods of business organization, and technology to solve organizational, production, and related problems efficiently.

What a typical day looks like:

• Simulates process, materials and manufacturing workflow and gives input to process engineer by using REFA, MOST, WITNESS and or adequate tools.
• During NPI coordinates process planning and set up with respect to takt, cycle time and direct labor requirement.
• Reviews result during prototyping and trial runs and gives feedback to NPI and sales team.
• Analyzes work force utilization, facility layout, and operational data, such as production costs, process flow charts, and production schedules, to determine efficient utilization of workers and equipment.
• Recommends methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities, such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing work flow, relocation work stations and equipment, and purchase of equipment.
• Confers with management and engineering staff to implement plans and recommendations.
• May develop management systems for cost analysis, financial planning, wage and salary administration, and job evaluation.
• Develops management control systems to aid in financial planning and cost analysis, and design production planning and control systems to coordinate activities and ensure product quality.
• Designs or improve systems for the physical distribution of goods and services, as well as determining the most efficient plant locations.
• Leads and supports initiatives to increase throughput, reduce cost and improve performance in constrained areas like LEAN, Automation and/or 6Sigma projects.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

• Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in a related field, technical training, or equivalent education and training.
• Typically requires 5 years of experience in engineering in the high technology electronics industry or related area.
