Job summary

Flex is seeking an Industrial Engineer to join our Prai, Penang team. You will help increase productivity by optimizing worker methods, layouts, and technology across production lines.

The role involves planning, time estimation, process simulation, and collaboration with process engineers to improve efficiency and reduce waste. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and experience in high-tech electronics industrial engineering.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field.
• Prior experience in industrial engineering in the high technology electronics industry or related area is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide process time estimation to the quote team.
• Simulate process, materials and manufacturing workflow and input to process engineer using REFA, MOST, WITNESS or adequate tools.
• Coordinate process planning and setup during NPI with respect to takt, cycle time and direct labor requirements.
• Review results during prototyping and trial runs and feedback to NPI and sales team.
• Work measurement programs and examine work samples to develop standards for labor utilization.
• Examine staff utilization, facility layout, and production data to define efficient use of workers and equipment.
• Recommend methods to improve worker efficiency and reduce material and utility waste, including restructuring duties and workflows.
• Confer with management and engineering staff to implement plans and recommendations.
• Develop management systems for cost reviews, financial planning, wage and salary administration, and job evaluation.
• Develops systems to aid financial planning and coordinate activities to ensure product quality.
• Design or improve systems for physical distribution and determine optimal plant locations.
• Support initiatives to increase throughput, reduce costs and improve performance in Lean, Automation and/or Six Sigma projects.

Responsible for increasing productivity through the management of workers, methods of business organization, and technology to solve organizational, production, and related problems efficiently.

What a typical day looks like:

• Provides process time estimation to the quote team.

• Simulates process, materials and manufacturing workflow and gives input to process engineer by using REFA, MOST, WITNESS and or adequate tools.

• During NPI coordinates process planning and set up with respect to takt, cycle time and direct labor requirement.

• Reviews result duringprotypingand trial runs and gives feedback to NPI and sales team.

• Work measurementprograms and examines work samples to develop standards for labor utilization.

• Examines staff utilization, facility layout, and operational data, such as production costs, process flow charts, and production schedules, to define efficient utilization of workers and equipment.

• Recommends methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities, such as restructuring job duties, reorganizingwork flow, relocation work stations and equipment, and purchase of equipment.

• Confers with management and engineering staff to implement plans and recommendations.

• May develop management systems for cost reviews, financial planning, wage and salary administration, and job evaluation.

• Develops management control systems to aid in financial planning and cost reviews, and design production planning and control systems to coordinate activities and ensure product quality.

• Designs or improve systems for the physical distribution of goods and services, as well as defining the most efficient plant locations.

• Manages and supports initiatives to increase throughput, reduce cost and improve performance in constrained areas like Lean, Automation and/or Six Sigma projects.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

• Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field.
