Job summary

Marsh in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Staff Accountant II to join the Accounting Operations team. The role ensures accurate payment processing, supports audit activities, and maintains internal controls.

You will work with the team to resolve issues, improve processes, and ensure compliance with SOX, tax, and GAAP standards. Based in Pavilion Damansara, you will manage daily payments, assist with audits, and collaborate with onshore and offshore colleagues to drive efficiency and accuracy in

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Finance or a related discipline, or equivalent qualifications.
• Ideally 3–5 years of experience in Accounts Payable, payment processing, treasury operations or related accounting.
• Practical experience supporting internal and/or external audits, including audit preparation and walkthroughs.
• Good understanding of payment processes, financial controls, and compliance requirements.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with ability to investigate issues and propose actions.
• Ability to work independently and provide effective support to the manager and team.
• Excellent written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily payment operations, including manual processing via e-banking platforms, ensuring timely and accurate transactions.
• Review payment requests for compliance with procedures and approvals.
• Investigate payment discrepancies, rejections, and process exceptions with recommended solutions.
• Support the manager in handling escalations and presenting findings.
• Assist in audit activities by preparing documentation and coordinating evidence.
• Explain procedures and control measures to auditors and stakeholders.
• Support process improvements and ensure timely follow-up on escalations.
• Adhere to corporate policies, SOX, tax rules and local/US GAAP requirements.
• Coordinate onshore and offshore accounting transitions.
• Demonstrate accountability and urgency in time-sensitive transactions.
