Job summary

Marsh is seeking a Staff Accountant I to join the Accounting Operations team in Kuala Lumpur. You will support accurate AP and payment processing across the business, coordinating with Asia-Pacific regions and internal stakeholders.

The role involves ensuring compliance with company policies and maintaining precise financial records. The ideal candidate holds a Degree in Accountancy, has 1–2 years related experience, strong Excel skills, and proficiency in English and Chinese.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accountancy or equivalent.
• Candidates with relevant working experience in accounting or finance operations will be considered.
• Good command of English and Chinese, both written and spoken, for daily business communication and coordination with internal stakeholders.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles, payment processing, or Accounts Payable functions.
• Good numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize deadlines, and ensure accuracy in processing financial transactions.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
• Willingness to learn new systems, banking platforms, and internal finance processes.

Responsibilities

• Review, assess, and process payment requests submitted by various departments, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Manage day-to-day Accounts Payable (AP) activities, ensuring timely and accurate processing of payments and related transactions.
• Create, maintain, and update payee templates and banking information in the company’s internal systems and banking platforms.
• Execute payment transactions through relevant banking platforms, ensuring payment details, instructions, and supporting documentation are accurate.
• Support payment processing activities for regional entities, including Asia and Pacific, and handle financial documentation in both English, Chinese and others language.
• Assist in preparing cash flow forecasts by monitoring payment schedules, cash outflows, and upcoming financial obligations.
• Maintain accurate payment records and support documentation for internal controls, reporting, and audit purposes.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, finance teams, and external parties to resolve payment-related queries and discrepancies.
• Support internal and external audit exercises by preparing required documentation, responding to inquiries, and ensuring compliance with financial controls.
• Participate in ad-hoc projects, process improvements, and system enhancements to improve operational efficiency and payment processes.
