Job summary

Melewar Steel Tube Sdn Bhd in Malaysia invites you to join our HSE team as an Environmental, Health and Safety Officer. You will maintain and update all HSE documents, records, procedures, SOPs and manuals in line with ISO Management System requirements, and coordinate internal and external audits.

You will assist in planning HSE programs, drills, training and budget management, monitor compliance with safety policies, and prepare reports for regulators such as DOSH and DOE.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) or related field.
• 2–3 years of experience in safety/health environment roles.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, update and control all HSE documents, records, procedures, SOPs and manuals in accordance with ISO Management System requirements.
• Coordinate preparation of documents and records for internal and external audits, Management Review Meetings and certification activities.
• Ensure all HSE documents are reviewed and updated in a timely manner.
• Assist in planning and coordinating HSE programs, activities, meetings, training and budgets.
• Coordinate safety drills and emergency response exercises.
• Coordinate Safety and Health Committee meetings and ensure planned activities are carried out.
• Monitor implementation of HSE action plans, corrective actions and improvement programs.
• Maintain inspection findings and incident reports and follow up on corrective actions.

Job description

To support the Safety and Health Officer to ensure the organisation complies with applicable Safety, health and environmental legal and other requirements:-

Maintain, update and control all HSE-related documents, records, procedures, SOPs and manuals in accordance with ISO Management System requirements.

Coordinate the preparation of documents and records for internal and external audits, Management Review Meetings and certification activities.

Ensure all HSE documents are properly maintained, reviewed and updated in a timely manner.

Assist in planning and coordinating HSE programs, activities, meetings, training and budgets.

Coordinate annual fire drills, chemical spill drills and other emergency response exercises.

Coordinate Safety and Health Committee meetings and ensure all planned activities are carried out accordingly.

Coordinate and monitor the implementation and progress of HSE action plans, corrective actions, compliance activities and improvement programs with relevant departments.

Maintain records of inspection findings and incident reports, and follow up on corrective and preventive actions until closure.

Monitor compliance with safety and environmental policies, procedures and workplace rules.

Assist in preparing HSE reports, statistical data, and submissions required by Management and relevant authorities such as DOSH, DOE and other regulatory bodies.

Arrange and monitor statutory and occupational health requirements, including Health Surveillance, Audiometric Testing, Chemical Health Risk Assessment (CHRA), Noise Risk Assessment (NRA), Chemical Exposure Monitoring (CEM) and fire protection system servicing.

Ensure appropriate safety and warning signage is installed and maintained at the workplace.

Conduct safety induction and briefing for new employees and contractors where required.

To support and implement QMS, EMS and OSHMS.

Any other duties as directed by the Superior.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:-

Education: Diploma/Degree in Safety Health and Environment or related field.

Experience: At least 2-3 years of experience in the related field.

Knowledge, Skills & Ability: Fast learner, can work under minimal supervision, able to work in a team, good interpersonal communication and ability to interact with all levels of people.
