Job summary

Ocean Vantage Engineering Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a responsible HSE Coordinator to support health, safety and environment activities across operational, maintenance, and project sites in Malaysia.

The role involves inspections, toolbox talks, and monitoring compliance with company and statutory requirements. You will work with HSE, Operations, project teams and contractors to promote safe practices, maintain records, and assist in audits and investigations.

Qualifications

• Diploma or certificate in engineering or equivalent required.
• Experience in HSE or site safety is advantageous.
• Knowledge of PTW, JSA, HIRARC and toolbox meetings helpful.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation of HSE policies, procedures, and programs across sites.
• Assist in conducting site safety inspections, workplace observations, and HSE monitoring activities.
• Assist in organizing and maintaining HSE documentation, records, reports and statistics.
• Assist with toolbox meetings, safety briefings and inductions.
• Monitor compliance with PTW, JSA, HIRARC and safety requirements.
• Identify and report unsafe acts and hazards to supervisors.
• Follow up on corrective actions and maintain records of findings.
• Assist with incident, near-miss, and unsafe condition reporting and investigations.
• Support contractor HSE monitoring and client/regulatory inspections.

Job description

We are looking for a responsible and safety-conscious HSE Coordinator to support the implementation and monitoring of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) activities across operational, maintenance, and project sites. The role will assist in safety inspections, documentation, toolbox meetings, compliance monitoring, and follow-up of HSE actions.

The successful candidate will work closely with HSE personnel, Operations, Maintenance, Project teams, contractors, and employees to promote safe work practices and ensure compliance with Company and statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the implementation of Company HSE policies, procedures, and programs.
• Assist in conducting site safety inspections, workplace observations, and HSE monitoring activities.
• Support the preparation and maintenance of HSE documentation, records, reports, and statistics.
• Assist in organizing and conducting toolbox meetings, safety briefings, inductions, and HSE awareness activities.
• Monitor compliance with Permit to Work (PTW), JSA, HIRARC, and other approved safety requirements.
• Identify and report unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, hazards, and potential risks to the relevant Supervisor or HSE personnel.
• Follow up on corrective and preventive actions and maintain records of outstanding HSE findings.
• Assist with incident, near-miss, and unsafe condition reporting and investigation activities.
• Support contractor HSE monitoring and ensure site personnel follow applicable safety requirements.
• Assist during internal, client, and regulatory HSE inspections and audits.
• Support emergency preparedness activities, drills, and safety campaigns.
• Maintain proper records of safety inspections, toolbox meetings, training, incidents, and other HSE activities.
• Promote good housekeeping and safe working practices across operational and project sites.
• Ensure HSE activities comply with Company procedures, HSSE requirements, and applicable statutory regulations.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by Management from time to time.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

• Minimum Diploma or Certificate in Engineering, SPM, or equivalent qualification.
• Experience in HSE, site safety, construction, engineering, maintenance, or industrial operations will be an advantage.
• Basic understanding of workplace safety, hazard identification, and risk control.
• Familiarity with PTW, JSA, HIRARC, toolbox meetings, and safety inspections will be an advantage.
• Good documentation and record-keeping skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications will be an advantage.
• Responsible, proactive, and safety-conscious.
• Able to work effectively with employees, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Willing to work at operational and project sites when required.
