Job summary

KPJ Selangor Specialist Hospital is seeking a skilled cook to prepare and present meals according to the daily production list, while upholding high standards of sanitation and safety within a hospital dietary setting.

You will ensure quality, portion control, and proper food temperatures, and assist in inventory management and staff training under the HOS. Healthcare catering experience is a plus, with strong teamwork and communication required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience as a cook.
• Familiarity with the food industry.
• Experience in Hospital Dietary Services is advantageous.
• Knowledge of cuisine and fundamental culinary skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively across levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food items ensuring quality and portioning as per daily production list.
• Arrange food items attractively on plates and platters.
• Maintain proper food temperatures during preparation and service.
• Store and rotate food in storage per guidelines.
• Assist in managing kitchen inventory and supplies with HOS.
• Supervise food production with the HOS/Catering officer.
• Perform light bookkeeping duties and report malfunctions.
• Assist with food preparation for catering projects and training new staff.
