Job summary

Centific seeks a Junior Hardware Test Engineer to support testing and validation of VR or AI devices in Penang. You will run hardware test plans, manage daily lab operations, and track bugs with Jira, while maintaining confidentiality.

Work closely with senior engineers, perform functional/performance/reliability tests, and apply Python and ADB commands to hardware validation in early product development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical field.
• 1–3 years of hardware testing experience (internships ok).
• Fluent in English (CET-6 or IELTS 6.5+).

Working hours :

Mon - Fri, 8.00am - 5.00pm

Malaysia Centific is seeking an energetic, friendly, and detail-oriented Junior Hardware Test Engineer to support the testing and validation of VR or AI NPI products. In this role, you will execute comprehensive hardware test plans, manage daily lab operations, and ensure meticulous tracking of system bugs. You will work closely with senior engineers and management, communicating progress in real-time while upholding strict project confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Execute functional, performance, and reliability test cases, applying fundamental testing theories to real-world VR hardware systems.
• Assist in the daily management of the hardware testing lab, tracking testing materials and instruments using spreadsheets. Comfortable spending a significant amount of time working hands-on in the lab.
• Communicate proactively with direct management, providing real-time updates on testing status, project changes, and daily progress.
• Demonstrate a friendly, approachable, and team-oriented personality, fostering a positive working environment when interacting with colleagues and visiting leaders.
• Maintain the highest level of confidentiality regarding unreleased products, strictly refraining from discussing work topics outside of the project team.
• Identify hardware and system-level bugs, capture detailed logs, and utilize Jira for rigorous defect tracking and verification of fixes.
• Operate hardware testing equipment (such as current probes and thermal measurement tools) and utilize basic Python and ADB commands to support daily testing.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Hardware Engineering, or a relevant technical field.
• 1 to 3 years of experience in hardware testing (outstanding fresh graduates with relevant internships are encouraged to apply).
• Fluent in English (CET-6 or IELTS 6.5+ equivalent), with the ability to read technical documentation and communicate effectively in cross-border meetings.
• Fundamental understanding of testing theories, the product lifecycle, Android/Linux ADB commands, and basic Python programming skills.
• Energetic, resilient under pressure, and highly motivated to learn new testing methodologies in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong interest in gaming and the VR/AR/AI wearable industry.
• Experience utilizing AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) to accelerate learning, optimize daily tasks, or assist in writing simple test scripts.
• Familiarity with lab environments and basic inventory/spreadsheet management.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Understanding of hardware or system design.
• Has HW validation experience
