Job summary

Millennium Technology Services in Johor Bahru is seeking a hands-on Data Centre Network Engineer to support operations in a mission-critical data centre environment. The role blends network troubleshooting and configuration with physical data centre tasks such as fibre/copper patching, cabling and equipment support.

The ideal candidate will work at CLI and in the data hall, handling VLANs, routing, switching and redundancy.

Qualifications

• 2–5+ years hands-on network/infrastructure experience.
• Knowledge of routing and switching fundamentals.
• Experience with VLANs, trunking, subnetting and switch configuration.
• Understanding of STP, LAG/LACP and redundancy.
• Experience with enterprise networking equipment (Cisco, Huawei, H3C, Aruba, Juniper).
• Basic firewall knowledge; Fortinet, Palo Alto, Check Point helpful.
• Experience with network patching and cabling.
• Comfort with both physical and logical connectivity testing.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day network operations, troubleshooting and incident resolution.
• Configure and troubleshoot switches, routers and basic firewall connectivity.
• Support VLAN configuration, trunking, IP addressing and subnetting.
• Troubleshoot Layer 2 and Layer 3 connectivity issues.
• Work with STP/RSTP, LAG/LACP/EtherChannel and redundancy mechanisms (HSRP/VRRP).
• Perform physical network patching for fibre and copper connections.
• Install, connect, replace and troubleshoot network cables, SFPs/transceivers and equipment.
• Maintain patch panels, racks and related hardware support.
• Verify connectivity after changes and patching activities.
• Support network migration, maintenance and change activities.
• Follow SOPs and safety requirements in the data centre.
• Maintain accurate network and cabling documentation.
