Job summary

Cushman & Wakefield is seeking a Network Operations Technician for our Johor Data Centre campus. You will supervise telecom dark fiber deployment, oversee vendor activities, and support ISP commissioning and live operations on-site.

The role requires strong communication, incident response, and hands-on troubleshooting across multiple project locations, with a focus on adherence to SOPs/MOPs and safety standards. Travel to sites within Johor may be required.

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience in Data Centre or critical infrastructure.
• Knowledge of telecom testing equipment from OTDRs to power meters.
• Knowledge of telecom testing standards and procedures (length, wire-mapping, BER, power, delay, loss).
• Must have the ability to communicate effectively.
• Industry standard certifications are advantageous.
• Flexibility to support after office hours during incidents.
• Willingness to travel across multiple sites up to 40-50 km apart.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and feedback Telecom dark fiber deployment progress at Data centre campus ingress.
• Supervise and feedback Telecom troubleshooting progress at remote relay/OLA/fiber break location.
• Monitor high-risk activities along telecom routes and data hall.
• Monitor and feedback ISP service provider system commissioning progress.
• Supervise daily onsite project work across multiple locations and keep on track.
• Ensure vendor’s work is on track within project schedule.
• Provide regular risk/issue feedback to stakeholders and ensure SOP/MOP adherence.
• Provide onsite support during maintenance/change events and troubleshooting.
• Coordinate admin matters to ensure smooth vendor site entry.
• Participate in site surveys and pre-work to establish a plan.
• Support and lead migrations and expansions.
• Setup network remote working environment and on-site upgrade work.

Job Description Summary

The Network Operations Technician team is responsible for onsite supervision of telecom dark fiber deployment, ISP commissioning, and network operations across the Data Centre campus, spanning both project delivery and live operations phases.

The Team shall be responsible for supervising vendor work progress, telecom fiber deployment, and high-risk activities, while reporting risks and schedule status to stakeholders. The team provides onsite support during maintenance, incidents, and live data hall activities, ensuring strict adherence to SOPs/MOPs and assisting with troubleshooting, migrations, and decommissioning projects.

• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, network, and connectivity issuesin a timely manner.

• Conduct network preventive inspections to reduce downtime and operational risks.

• Monitor and respond promptly to network alerts and incidents and provide first responseaccurateupdate

• Oversee day-to-day network operationsonsite ,ensuring alignment with business and compliance requirements.

• Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Methods of Procedures (MOPs).

• Support and lead small-to-large scale projects, including migrations and expansions.

• Responsible for setting up the network remote working environment.

• Conduct on-site upgrade work for the switch / debugging work.

• Assistin troubleshooting optical cable faults.

• Assistnetwork engineers in troubleshooting network faults anddeterminingthe root cause.

• Oversee and supervise vendors working in livesupercorenetwork data hall.

• On-site management of network decommissioningproject.

Requirements:

• 3 years of experience preferably in Data Centre or Critical infrastructure industry

• Understanding of splicing, and an understanding of how to maintain and operate within a manhole, vault, or handhole environment.

• Knowledge of telecommunications testing equipment from microscopes and power meters to OTDRs.

• Knowledge of telecommunications testing standards and procedures from length, wire-mapping and bit error rate to power, delay, loss, reflectance and dispersion.

• Must have the ability to communicate effectively.

• Industry standard certifications are advantageous.

• Willingness to travel across multiple sites (up to40-50kmapart)
