Job description

Halal Executive cum Business Development Executive

RXC Resources Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a Halal Executive cum Business Development Executive to oversee the restaurant's halal compliance and certification requirements while supporting business growth, customer development and strategic partnerships.

The successful candidate will serve as the key person responsible for coordinating halal-related matters, maintaining the restaurant's halal management system and documentation, and liaising with relevant authorities, suppliers and internal teams. In addition, the candidate will identify and develop new business opportunities, particularly within the hospitality, tourism, corporate, events and Muslim consumer markets.

Key Responsibilities

1. Halal Management & Compliance

Act as the restaurant's Halal Executive and primary point of contact for halal-related matters.

Maintain and update halal documentation, records, procedures and supporting materials.

Coordinate the preparation and submission of halal certification and renewal documentation through the relevant official systems.

Ensure ingredients, raw materials, suppliers and food products meet applicable halal requirements.

Monitor the validity of suppliers' halal certificates and related documentation.

Assist management in developing, implementing and maintaining the restaurant's Halal Management System / Internal Halal Control System, where applicable.

Coordinate the activities and documentation of the Internal Halal Committee.

Conduct regular internal checks to ensure compliance with halal requirements.

Prepare the restaurant and relevant documentation for halal audits, inspections and monitoring visits.

Act as the designated PIC during relevant halal inspections and communicate follow-up requirements to management.

Identify and report potential halal compliance risks and recommend corrective actions.

Coordinate halal awareness and related training for restaurant employees.

Ensure employees understand the restaurant's halal policies, procedures and responsibilities.

Maintain records of relevant employee training and competency.

Promote a strong halal-compliance culture throughout the restaurant.

Work closely with purchasing and kitchen teams to verify the halal status of ingredients and suppliers.

Maintain an updated database of approved ingredients and suppliers.

Review supplier documentation and halal certificates where required.

Ensure any proposed changes to ingredients, suppliers or products are appropriately reviewed before implementation.

Coordinate with suppliers to obtain updated documentation when necessary.

4. Business Development

Identify and develop new business opportunities for KK Garden Seafood Restaurant.

Develop relationships with hotels, travel agencies, tour operators, corporate clients, government agencies, event organisers and other potential partners.

Explore opportunities to attract domestic and international Muslim tourists and group customers.

Develop corporate dining, group dining, event and private-function opportunities.

Assist in developing restaurant packages, promotions and partnership programmes.

Conduct market research and monitor customer and tourism trends.

Identify opportunities to expand KK Garden's customer base and revenue streams.

Maintain a database of potential and existing business partners and clients.

Follow up on leads, enquiries and partnership opportunities.

5. Marketing & Customer Development

Work with the management/marketing team to develop campaigns and promotional activities.

Support the development of halal-focused marketing initiatives where appropriate.

Promote KK Garden's halal credentials and dining experience to relevant target markets.

Assist with social media, digital marketing and promotional activities related to business development.

Gather customer and market feedback and communicate relevant findings to management.

6. Reporting & Administration

Prepare regular reports on halal compliance activities, certification status and outstanding matters.

Prepare business development reports covering leads, partnerships, sales opportunities and business activities.

Maintain accurate records of meetings, supplier documents, training, audits and business-development activities.

Provide recommendations to management based on market findings and business opportunities.

Perform other duties reasonably related to halal management and business development as assigned by management.

Job Requirements

Muslim.

Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Halal Management, Food Science, Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.

Possess or be willing to obtain the appropriate Halal Executive training/certification through a recognised Halal Training Provider.

Good understanding of halal requirements applicable to food and beverage establishments.

Good written and verbal communication skills in Bahasa Malaysia and English.

Strong organisational and documentation skills.

Able to work independently and coordinate with different departments.

Willing to work in a restaurant/F&B environment and attend inspections, meetings and external business-development activities when required.

Preferred

Previous experience as a Halal Executive, Halal Coordinator, QA/QC Executive or similar role.

Experience in restaurant, hospitality, food & beverage or tourism industries.

Experience in business development, sales, corporate sales or partnership management.

Existing relationships with hotels, tour operators, travel agencies, corporate clients or event organisers.

Knowledge of Sabah's tourism and hospitality market.

Experience dealing with halal certification authorities or preparing halal certification documentation.
