Job summary

SDS Group Berhad's SDS Food division seeks a Halal Internal Auditor for Halal Internal Audit at bakery outlets and central kitchen in Johor Bahru. You will conduct scheduled halal audits, verify MHMS and JAKIM compliance, and ensure ingredients, certificates, and records meet halal standards.

You will also manage documentation, non-conformities, corrective actions, and training to uphold halal integrity across production and outlets.

Qualifications

• Minimum Diploma in Halal Management, Food Technology, Food Science, Quality Management, or related field.
• Knowledge of Malaysian halal certification requirements and MHMS.
• Understanding of food hygiene, GMP, HACCP, ingredient control, and food production processes.
• Halal Executive or recognised halal internal auditor training is an advantage; mandatory competency requirements must follow applicable regulations and company policy.
• Good communication, documentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel between production facilities and SDS Café & Bakery outlets and Central outlets.

Responsibilities

• A. Halal Internal Audit: Conduct halal internal audits at production facilities and outlets according to the approved audit schedule.
• Perform internal audits every three months or according to the audit plan.
• Verify compliance with JAKIM/JAIN halal certification requirements, MHMS, and company procedures.
• Inspect storage, preparation, production, packaging, handling, and finished products for halal integrity.
• Check halal certificates, supplier records, ingredient lists, product labels, and operational documents.
• Monitor halal requirement implementation and identify halal risk.
• B. Documentation and Record Control: Review halal files for completeness and updates.
• Maintain halal certificates and approved ingredient lists.
• Maintain supplier and purchasing documentation.
• Maintain training certificates and vaccination records where applicable.
• C. Non-Conformity and Corrective Action: Identify, report non-conformities, and recommend CAPAs.
• Monitor deadlines and verify effectiveness of actions.
• Escalate serious halal risks immediately.
• D. Production and Outlet Monitoring: Inspect facilities and outlets to verify halal SOPs.
• Monitor ingredient receiving, storage, stock rotation, handling, and cross-contamination prevention.
• Verify adherence to recipes and process flows.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve audit issues.
• E. Reporting and Communication: Prepare audit reports, maintain schedules and trackers.
• Communicate results to relevant departments and outlet PIC.
• Support halal certification activities when assigned.
• F. Training and Continuous Improvement: Promote halal awareness and training.
• Recommend improvements to SOPs, checklists, and documentation systems.
• Maintain confidentiality, impartiality, and independence.
