Job summary

PLAYA Racquet Club is seeking an experienced and hands-on Accounts Manager to oversee the full spectrum of finance and accounting operations across multiple companies within the Group in Malaysia. You will manage comprehensive accounting functions, ensure regulatory compliance, and provide insightful financial reporting to support strategic decisions.

You should be highly organized with strong knowledge of Malaysian accounting standards, SST, and tax matters, plus hands-on experience with ERP

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CIMA, MICPA, or equivalent is highly preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of Malaysian accounting standards, tax regulations, SST, statutory compliance.
• Hands-on experience in tax filing, tax compliance, and liaising with tax agents, auditors, and authorities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the full spectrum of accounting across multiple entities within the Group.
• Manage full-set accounts including GL, AP, AR, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing.
• Prepare accurate monthly management accounts, financial statements, and cash flow reports.
• Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial performance across business units.
• Oversee cash flow management and working capital across all companies.
• Ensure timely statutory filings, tax matters, SST, and regulatory compliance.
• Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, company secretaries, bankers, and authorities.
• Ensure compliance with MFRS, Companies Act, Bursa Malaysia requirements, and regulations.
• Review and strengthen internal controls and financial SOPs.
• Oversee payroll accounting and reconciliations when required.
• Support management with financial analysis and strategic decision-making.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team.

PLAYA Racquet Club is looking for an experienced and hands-on Accounts Manager to oversee the full spectrum of finance and accounting operations across multiple companies within the Group. If you're highly organised, commercially minded, and confident managing everything from daily accounting to statutory compliance and financial reporting, we'd love to have you on our team.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Oversee the full spectrum of accounting and finance functions across multiple companies within the Group
• Manage full-set accounts including General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), bank reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing
• Prepare accurate monthly management accounts, financial statements, and cash flow reports
• Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial performance across business units
• Oversee cash flow management and ensure healthy working capital across all companies
• Ensure timely preparation and submission of statutory filings, tax matters, SST, and other regulatory requirements
• Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, company secretaries, bankers, and relevant government authorities
• Ensure compliance with the Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS), Companies Act, Bursa Malaysia requirements (where applicable), and all relevant statutory regulations
• Review and strengthen internal controls, accounting processes, and financial SOPs
• Oversee payroll accounting, statutory payments, and financial reconciliations where required
• Support management with financial analysis, business performance reporting, and strategic decision-making
• Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team while ensuring accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement

WHO YOU ARE

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CIMA, MICPA, or equivalent is highly preferred
• Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting, including at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role
• Strong experience handling full-set accounts across multiple entities
• Well-versed in Malaysian accounting standards, tax regulations, SST, statutory compliance, and Malaysia's e-Invoicing requirements
• Hands-on experience in tax filing, tax compliance, and liaising with tax agents, auditors, company secretaries, bankers, and relevant authorities
• Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, and internal controls
• Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel (experience with Xero is an advantage)
• Experience handling intercompany transactions is preferred
• Exposure to Bursa Malaysia reporting or compliance requirements is an advantage
• Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail
