Job summary

Technoworkz Sdn. Bhd. in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a telecommunications test engineer to validate GPON/XGS-PON OLT/ONT equipment and subscriber services. The role involves configuring equipment and executing comprehensive test plans across L2/L3 protocols.

You will work with multi-vendor gear, validate interoperability, and develop automated tests using Python/TCL/Perl where required. A strong grounding in PON features and network protocols is essential.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of GPON, XGS-PON, OLT/ONU/ONT and FTTH.
• Hands-on experience with VLAN, DHCP, PPPoE, NAT, IGMP, QoS, and IPv6.
• Familiar with OMCI and ONT provisioning.

Responsibilities

• Test and validate GPON/XGS-PON OLT and ONT/ONU products.
• Configure OLT/ONT and validate subscriber services.
• Create and execute test plans, test cases, functional, regression, interoperability and performance tests.
• Test VLAN, DHCP, PPPoE, NAT, IGMP, QoS, TCP/UDP, IPv4/IPv6 and other L2/L3 protocols.
• Validate PON features such as GEM, T-CONT, GEM ports, bandwidth profiles and QoS.
• Perform throughput, latency, packet-loss and traffic-performance testing.
• Troubleshoot failures using Wireshark, traffic generators and network test equipment.
• Perform optical testing using Optical Power Meter and OTDR.

Job description

Test and validate GPON/XGS-PON OLT and ONT/ONU products. Configure OLT/ONT and validate subscriber services. Work with multi-vendor OLT/ONT equipment and validate interoperability.

Key responsibilities

Create and execute test plans, test cases, functional, regression, interoperability and performance tests

Test VLAN, DHCP, PPPoE, NAT, IGMP, QoS, TCP/UDP, IPv4/IPv6 and other L2/L3 protocols

Validate PON features such as GEM, T-CONT, GEM ports, bandwidth profiles and QoS

Perform throughput, latency, packet-loss and traffic-performance testing

Troubleshoot failures using Wireshark, traffic generators and network test equipment

Perform optical testing using Optical Power Meter and OTDR where the role includes physical-fiber validation

Analyze defects, reproduce issues and work with development teams for root-cause verification

Develop test automation using Python/TCL/Perl where required

About you

Strong understanding of GPON, XGS-PON, OLT, ONU/ONT and FTTH

Good knowledge of Ethernet and L2/L3 networking

Hands-on experience with VLAN, DHCP, PPPoE, NAT, IGMP, QoS, ARP, ICMP, DNS and IPv6

Knowledge of OMCI and ONT provisioning

Wireshark and traffic-generator experience

Python/TCL/Perl scripting is an advantage or requirement depending on the position

Good debugging and test-case development skills
