DCConnect Global is seeking an Optics Infrastructure & Technical Engineer to design, implement, monitor, and support DWDM and optical transport networks in a 24x7 environment. You will work across NOC operations, project delivery, and global initiatives to ensure high availability and SLA compliance.
The role requires hands-on DWDM experience with leading platforms (Ciena, Huawei, Nokia), OTDR/OSA testing, link budget analysis, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
This position is responsible for the design, implementation, monitoring, and operational design support of the organization’s optical transport networks. The role ensures high availability, performance, and SLA compliance across DW\x26WDM and Dark Fiber infrastructure, while supporting NOC operations, project delivery, and global network initiatives.
1. Network Operations Design & Incident Management
Design and maintain WDM implementation and operational protocols, and cascade them to NOC teams for execution.
Oversee and support day-to-day NOC operations, ensuring compliance with SOPs and operational standards.
Manage network incidents end-to-end, including identification, triage, troubleshooting, resolution, and post-incident analysis.
Ensure network performance meets defined SLAs and internal KPIs.
2. DW\x26WDM / Optical Transport Engineering
Plan and deploy DW\x26WDM systems, including topology design and optical path engineering.
Configure, integrate, and maintain DW\x26WDM platforms (e.g., Ciena, Huawei, Nokia).
Perform link budget analysis, optical power balancing, and capacity expansion planning.
Troubleshoot optical transmission issues, alarms, and degradation events.
Conduct OTDR, OSA, BER, and power level testing during installation, maintenance, and fault isolation.
Perform acceptance testing and commissioning for new fiber links and DW\x26WDM capacity upgrades.
Execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities to minimize service impact and downtime.
4. Project Management Support
Provide technical support for projects, including project preparation, internal pre-sales support, solution design, testing, and delivery.
Deliver in-depth technical presentations, proposals, and solution briefings for upcoming and ongoing projects.
Support equipment installation, provisioning, and commissioning in data center environments.
Act as a technical specialist within assigned virtual teams, providing consultative support to other engineers.
Coordinate with IP, Core, Transmission, and Field teams for end-to-end service delivery.
Liaise with vendors and service providers for upgrades, troubleshooting, technical escalations, and solution optimization.
Provide technical guidance and training to NOC staff and field engineers.
6. Global Network Support & Documentation
Support global network operations, including regular site visits to regional NOCs.
Maintain accurate network design documentation, fiber maps, configurations, and operational records.
Prepare performance, fault analysis, and operational reports.
Support audits, compliance checks, and internal reviews.
7. Other Duties
Perform other ad hoc duties as assigned by the supervisor or management.
Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience in IP networks, optical transport networks, or DW\x26WDM systems.
Experience in 24x7 NOC or operational network environments is preferred.
Experience acting as a technical lead or senior engineer on optical transport projects is an advantage.
Strong understanding of optical transmission technologies (DW\x26WDM, OTN, SDH, SONET).
Solid knowledge of Layer 1–3 networking concepts and troubleshooting.
Proficiency in DW\x26WDM platforms (e.g., Ciena, Huawei, Nokia) and network management systems (e.g., U2000, OneControl).
Hands-on experience with fiber testing and measurement tools (OTDR, OSA, Power Meter).
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work independently and perform under pressure in a mission-critical environment.
