VISTAS TECHNOLOGY CO., LTD. is seeking a Government & Regulatory Affairs Manager to secure and maintain regulatory support for data centre projects in Johor/Kuala Lumpur.

You will manage policy, regulatory and permitting risks, engaging federal and state authorities to facilitate timely approvals. The role requires 8–12 years in government affairs with strong stakeholder engagement, fluent Bahasa Malaysia and English, and willingness to travel extensively (>50%).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in public policy, political science, or related field.
• Willing to relocate to Johor Bahru.
• 8–12 years of experience in government affairs or regulatory affairs.
• Experience in data center industry preferred.
• Ability to lead government engagement strategy with federal/state/local authorities.
• Fluent in Bahasa Malaysia and English.
• Willingness to travel >50%.

Responsibilities

Job description

Job Function: Government & Regulatory Affairs Manager

Reporting to : Head of Public Policy & Government Affairs Malaysia

To secure and maintain the necessary government and regulatory support for the successful development and operation of the company’s data centre projects in Johor/Kuala Lumpur, while managing policy, regulatory and permitting risks and facilitating timely project approvals.

• Monitor and assess policies,regulations and government initiatives affecting the data centre industry;advise management on regulatory implications,risks and opportunities;develop policy positions and regulatory strategies.
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with Federal and State Governments,ministries, agencies,regulators and government-linked entities;lead government engagement and facilitate government support for data centre projects.
• Supporting Solutions,Operation and other internal stakeholders in leading authority engagement and permitting activities throughout the project lifecycle;identify required approvals,licences and permits;coordinate submissions and drive resolution of authority requirements and approval conditions.
• Coordinate with internal teams,consultants and legal advisors on government and regulatory matters.
• Lead government-facing activities relating to investment approvals,PLANMalaysia Johor, DCTF,MIDA,MITI,MOE,MDEC etc requirements,project facilitation and relevant government incentives.
• Monitor applicable laws,regulations,guidelines and approval conditions;identify compliance requirements and ensure regulatory obligations are incorporated into project planning and operations.
• Represent the company in government-industry dialogues,consultations and relevant associations;monitor industry developments and government positions on data centre development.
• Provide senior management with timely intelligence and recommendations on government priorities,regulatory developments,permitting risks,stakeholder positions and issues affecting project development and operations.
• Provide regular updates to the Head of Public Policy &Government Affairs on government developments,risks,opportunities and stakeholder sentiment.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Government Affairs, Law, Business, Communications or related field
• Willing to relocate to Johor Bahru
• 8-12 Years of Experienced
• Relevant experiences on government affairs,public policy,regulatory affairs,infrastructure. Preferred from Data Center Industry.
• Able to independently lead government engagement strategy and strong experience engaging Federal,State government &local authorities.
• Fluent in Bahasa Malaysia &English
• Required to travel (>50%)
