Job summary

VISTAS TECHNOLOGY CO., LTD. seeks a Head of Public Policy & Government Affairs Malaysia to lead community engagement for data centre projects in Johor Bahru.

You will build strong relationships with local government, communities, and stakeholders, and guide CSR and social impact initiatives aligned with project objectives. The role requires 8–10 years of relevant experience, willingness to relocate to Johor Bahru, and the ability to travel frequently (>50%).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
• Willing to relocate to Johor Bahru.
• 8–10 years of experience, preferably in community relations, stakeholder engagement, CSR/ESG or data centre/infrastructure sectors.
• Experience engaging state government and local authorities.
• Travel willingness (>50%).

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement community engagement strategies for data centre projects.
• Identify and map key community stakeholders and manage engagement with residents associations, NGOs, schools and other local groups.
• Serve as the main contact for community-related matters and address concerns and feedback.
• Develop and manage community investment, CSR and social impact programs.
• Identify opportunities for local employment, skills development and schooling initiatives.
• Establish mechanisms to capture and respond to community feedback and risks.
• Support communications with the public and stakeholders during site development and construction.
• Coordinate with Government & Regulatory Affairs and Corporate Communications on messaging.
• Create community communications materials and awareness initiatives.

Job description

Reporting to :

Head of Public Policy & Government Affairs Malaysia

To support on community affairs and stakeholder engagement activities in Johor to build positive relationships with state government, local communities, understand community needs and expectations, and support the successful development and operation of data centre projects.

• Develop and implement community engagement strategies for data centre projects;establish and maintain positive relationships with local communities,residents,community leaders and local authorities.
• Identify and map key community stakeholders; manage engagement with residents’associations,community leaders,NGOs,educational institutions and other local stakeholders.
• Serve as the key point of contact for community-related matters;understand and address community concerns, expectations and feedback arising from project development and operations.
• Develop and manage community investment,CSR and social impact programmes aligned with local needs,company priorities and project objectives.
• Identify opportunities to create positive local impact through employment, skills development, education, internships, local business participation and community programmes.
• Establish mechanisms to receive,assess and respond to community feedback and grievances; identify potential social risks and coordinate appropriate mitigation measures with internal teams.
• Support community engagement during site development and construction, including communication on project activities,potential impacts,traffic,noise,environment and other community concerns.
• Coordinate with Government &Regulatory Affairs,Corporate Communication and relevant local authorities on community-related matters and ensure consistent messaging to external stakeholders.
• Develop community communication materials, engagement programmes and awareness initiatives to improve understanding of data centre projects and their economic and social contributions.
• Provide updates to Head of Public Policy &Government Affairs Malaysia with regular updates on community sentiment, stakeholder concerns, social risks and opportunities, and recommend appropriate engagement strategies.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Community Development, Social Sciences,Sustainability,Business or related field
• Willing to relocate to Johor Bahru
• 8-10 Years of Experienced
• Relevant experiences on community relations, stakeholder engagement, CSR/ESG, infrastructure,property,utilities from data centre industry.
• Able to independently lead community strategy and experienced in engaging state government and local authority including community stakeholders.
• Required to travel (>50%)
