Job summary

Western Digital in Penang invites an experienced Global Trade Operations APJ Program Manager to lead import/export compliance and regional trade programs. You will serve as a single point of contact for regional business units and brokers, driving policy implementations and KPI rollout to support compliant, efficient global supply chains.

You bring >10 years in import/export and trade compliance, a Bachelor's in International Trade or Logistics, and strong knowledge of US and APAC regs, with ERP

Qualifications

• 10+ years direct experience in Import/Export and Trade Compliance.
• Bachelor's degree in international Trade / Logistics Operations.
• Strong understanding of US and APAC regional import/export regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate and timely local subject matter expertise on import/export to business teams.
• Serve as single point of contact for WD Regional Business Units/Functions, Brokers/Carriers.
• Support new business model and legal entity setup in the region.
• Roll out Broker Management Program with KPI tracking within the region.
• Engage with partners to support/manage/regulatory inquiries and audits.
• Implement Global Trade Compliance Policies with business and functional teams.
• Own regional internal control program (ICP) and drive improvements.
• Provide trainings on operational requirements aligned with Trade Policies.
• Lead complex compliance projects to closure and track corrective actions.
• Investigate potential violations and coordinate voluntary disclosures with Trade Compliance.
• Participate in compliance assessments and maintain regulatory relationships.
• Identify process improvements and communicate regulatory changes regionally.
• Ensure accurate record keeping and cross-functional influence.

• Provides accurate and timely local subject matter expertise pertaining to import and export requirements to business teams.
• A single point of contact for Western Digital Regional Business Units/Functions, Brokers/Carriers for import and export compliance requirement
• Supports new business model and legal entity set up in the region.
• Roll out Broker Management Program within the region including managing KPI’s.
• Pro-actively engages with key business partners to support/manage and resolve market access challenges & respond to customs queries/audits.
• Implements Global Trade Compliance Policies with respective business & Functional teams.
• Owns regional internal control program (ICP)
• Provides trainings to business stakeholders on operational requirements that aligns with company’s Trade Policies
• Independently leads and drive complex compliance projects and initiatives to successful closure.
• Supports investigation of potential violations and collaborates with Trade Compliance management to prepare voluntary disclosures and track corrective actions.
• Participates in the planning and execution of compliance assessments.
• Maintains a strong rapport with relevant regulatory authorities and represents WD in Industry forums
• Identify and recommends process improvements and simplifications.
• Pro-actively communicates and shares regulatory changes impacting the business in the region.
• Ensuring accurate and detailed record keeping.
• Ability to influence a particular business across functions and/or regions.
• Actively participates in developing regional compliance operations strategy and annual plan of action

Required

• >10 years of direct working with Import/ Export and Trade Compliance
• Bachelor’s in international Trade /Logistics Operations
• Strong understanding of US and APAC regional import and export regulations.

Preferred

• Able is perform HTS and ECCN Classification
• Proven expertise in determining Rules of Origin and Country of Origin
• Solid knowledge of Microsoft packages (Excel, Visio, Word, Power point etc.)
• Proven practice on working with international customs and export control laws
• Exposure to ERP platforms (GTS/GTM/other)
• Ability to travel up to 20%, domestically and internationally, as required.
• Highly motivated person, who drives Personal Excellence by maintaining accountability with time management.
