Job summary

Zurich Insurance in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Senior Fullstack Developer to design, build and test Web App, APIs and integrations for the Zurich Edge platform. You will use Next.js, NestJS, AWS services (S3, SQS), PostgreSQL, and REST/JSON APIs, implementing secure, scalable components and collaborating with product, DevOps and QA teams.

This role emphasizes modern engineering practices, code quality, and AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot and Claude Code.

Qualifications

• 5+ years programming experience.
• Experience with Typescript and Next.js.
• Experience with NestJS Framework and REST/JSON APIs.

Job description

We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity, working as our Fullstack Senior Developer

within the Asia Pacific region. Within the role you’ll build and unit/integration testing of Web

App, APIs and integration.

You will have a chance to be part of new project that will build a new end-to-end Zurich Edge

Insurance Platform to enable new distribution models. Insurance offerings on this platform will

be specifically designed for high levels of automation and straight through processing across

the full insurance value chain.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build a strong understanding of business requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
• Design and develop fullstack web applications using Nextjs and Nestjs.
• Build responsive, secure, and reusable frontend components aligned with modern UI/UX standards.
• Develop server-side functionality using Nestjs capabilities, including API routes, server components, middleware, and backend-for-frontend patterns.
• Design and build domain-centric APIs and integrations.
• Develop REST/JSON APIs and microservices to support platform capabilities.
• Build integrations with internal Zurich systems and external partner platforms.
• Implement synchronous and asynchronous integration patterns, including queue-based and event-driven flows.
• Integrate with AWS services such as S3, SQS, and other cloud-native components.
• Work with databases such as PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimization, and data access patterns.
• Create and maintain API documentation using tools such as Swagger/OpenAPI.
• Perform unit, integration, and end-to-end testing for frontend and backend components.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, DevOps engineers, QA teams, and other development teams.
• Promote good engineering practices, including clean code, secure coding, code reviews, and maintainable architecture.
• Use AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot and Claude Code responsibly to improve delivery efficiency.

Your skills and experience:

• 5+ years programming experience.
• Experience with Typescript.
• Strong experience building fullstack applications with Next.js.
• Experience with NestJS Framework.
• Experience integrating with AWS Components eg: S3,SQS, etc.
• Experience with PostgreSql Database.
• Strong experience with API development using REST/JSON, Swagger & Postman
• Synchronous Design Pattern
• Asynchronous Design Pattern
• Experience with SOAP, JavaScript programming, design patterns
• Experience with JIRA, Sonarqube.
• Experience with AI Tools: Github Copilot, Claude Code.
• Knowledge of object-oriented modelling.
• Sound understanding of IT project delivery and agile / DevOps methodologies.
