Job summary

Zurich in Kuala Lumpur seeks a Senior Fullstack Developer to build and test web apps, APIs, and integrations for Zurich Edge Insurance Platform.

You will design and implement scalable frontend and backend features using Next.js and NestJS, work with AWS services, PostgreSQL, and API documentation tools, and collaborate across product, architecture, and DevOps teams to deliver robust solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of programming experience.
• Strong experience building fullstack apps with Next.js.
• Experience with NestJS framework.
• Experience integrating with AWS components (S3, SQS).
• Experience with PostgreSQL database.
• API development with REST/JSON, Swagger & Postman.
• Experience with JIRA and SonarQube.
• Knowledge of AI tools: GitHub Copilot and Claude Code.
• Object-oriented design and agile/DevOps delivery.

Responsibilities

• Build a strong understanding of business requirements and translate into scalable technical solutions.
• Design and develop fullstack web apps using Next.js and NestJS.
• Create responsive, secure frontend components aligning with UI/UX.
• Develop server-side features with NestJS: API routes, middleware, BFF patterns.
• Design and build domain APIs and integrations.
• Develop REST/JSON APIs and microservices to support platform.
• Integrate with Zurich systems and external partners.
• Implement synchronous and asynchronous integration patterns, including queue/event-driven flows.
• Work with AWS services (S3, SQS) and PostgreSQL; optimize queries and data access.
• Create API docs using Swagger/OpenAPI; perform unit/integration testing.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, DevOps, QA, and other teams.
• Promote clean code, secure coding, code reviews, maintainable architecture.

We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity, working as our Fullstack Senior Developer
within the Asia Pacific region. Within the role you'll build and unit/integration testing of Web
App, APIs and integration.

You will have a chance to be part of new project that will build a new end-to-end Zurich Edge
Insurance Platform to enable new distribution models. Insurance offerings on this platform will
be specifically designed for high levels of automation and straight through processing across
the full insurance value chain.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build a strong understanding of business requirements and translate them into scalable
  technical solutions.
• Design and develop fullstack web applications using Nextjs and Nestjs.
• Build responsive, secure, and reusable frontend components aligned with modern
  UI/UX standards.
• Develop server-side functionality using Nestjs capabilities, including API routes, server
  components, middleware, and backend-for-frontend patterns.
• Design and build domain-centric APIs and integrations.
• Develop REST/JSON APIs and microservices to support platform capabilities.
• Build integrations with internal Zurich systems and external partner platforms.
• Implement synchronous and asynchronous integration patterns, including queue-based
  and event-driven flows.
• Integrate with AWS services such as S3, SQS, and other cloud-native components.
• Work with databases such as PostgreSQL, including schema design, query
  optimization, and data access patterns.
• Create and maintain API documentation using tools such as Swagger/OpenAPI.
• Perform unit, integration, and end-to-end testing for frontend and backend components.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, DevOps engineers, QA teams, and other development teams.
• Promote good engineering practices, including clean code, secure coding, code reviews, and maintainable architecture.
• Use AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot and Claude Code responsibly to improve delivery efficiency.

Your skills and experience:

• 5+ years programming experience.
• Experience with Typescript.
• Strong experience building fullstack applications with Next.js.
• Experience with NestJS Framework.
• Experience integrating with AWS Components eg: S3,SQS, etc.
• Experience with PostgreSql Database.
• Strong experience with API development using REST/JSON, Swagger & Postman
• Experience with JIRA, Sonarqube.
• Experience with AI Tools: Github Copilot, Claude Code.
• Knowledge of object-oriented modelling.
• Sound understanding of IT project delivery and agile / DevOps methodologies

Skills:

• Experience with integration design patterns
• Passion for new and emerging technologies. Ability to investigate these in depth.
