Job summary

Orieus Electronics (M) Sdn Bhd seeks a Freelance Mechanical Design Engineer for packaging and filling systems in Shah Alam. You will design, develop, and optimize mechanical components, create 3D models and drawings, and validate designs for manufacturability and reliability.

You will collaborate with electrical and automation engineers to ensure seamless integration and will support installation, testing, and commissioning at customer sites. This is a part-time, on-site role based in Shah Alam.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience in packaging or filling systems is beneficial.
• Proficient in CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor).
• Knowledge of industrial automation interfaces and equipment.
• Strong communication and ability to work on-site with teams.
• Ability to manage multiple design tasks within project timelines.

Role Description The Freelance Mechanical Design Engineer – Packaging & Filling Systems is a part-time, role based in Shah Alam. This role focuses on designing and developing mechanical systems for packaging and filling equipment, including concept development, detailed design, and optimization for manufacturability and reliability. Daily responsibilities include creating and revising 3D models and engineering drawings, performing basic calculations and design validations, and collaborating with electrical, controls, and automation engineers to ensure seamless system integration. The engineer will work closely with project and production teams to support installation, testing, and commissioning activities, and to resolve design issues during fabrication and on-site implementation. The role also involves communicating with internal stakeholders and customers to clarify requirements, provide technical input, and ensure that solutions meet performance, safety, and industry standards.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering with applied experience in Design Engineering for industrial machinery or automation systems.
• Proficiency in Machine Design, including mechanisms, motion systems, and structural components for packaging and filling equipment.
• Capability in Product Design, focusing on manufacturability, safety, reliability, and maintenance-friendly mechanical solutions.
• Hands-on experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar) for 3D modeling and detailed drawings.
• Understanding of industrial automation environments, including interfaces with PLCs, sensors, actuators, and process equipment.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications, standards, and engineering documentation, and to produce clear, accurate design reports.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with multidisciplinary engineering teams and production personnel on-site.
• Strong problem-solving mindset, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple design tasks within project timelines.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline; relevant experience in packaging or filling systems is highly beneficial.
