Nissin International Logistics in Malaysia seeks an experienced Forwarding Senior Manager to lead our freight forwarding department and drive AI-enabled improvements. You will oversee end-to-end operations, ensure compliance, and report to HODs.

The ideal candidate brings 15+ years in forwarding leadership, strong IT literacy with AI, and mastery of Incoterms and global freight practices. English and Bahasa Malaysia are essential for collaboration with internal teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years of forwarding management experience or equivalent high-impact leadership.
• Strong IT literacy with AI and automated systems in logistics.
• Deep knowledge of international trade, Incoterms, port operations, and global freight forwarding protocols.
• Excellent leadership, delegation, and communication with Heads of Departments.
• Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia; able to present to and work with HODs.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end forwarding operations (Air, Sea, and Land) and optimize processes.
• Champion IT/AI adoption to improve efficiency and reduce bottlenecks.
• Ensure 100% customs compliance and renew licenses.
• Generate performance reports to guide long-term logistics strategy.
• Build strong relationships with shipping lines, carriers, and agents.
• Oversee daily workflow and meet tight shipping deadlines and KPIs.
• Mentor the forwarding team and drive continuous improvement.

We are seeking a highly experienced and forward-thinking Forwarding Senior Manager to lead our freight forwarding department. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between traditional logistics and modern technology by introducing Artificial Intelligence (AI) to optimize supply chain operations. You will oversee end-to-end forwarding processes, ensure strict customs compliance, and drive operational efficiency. Success in this role requires a strong demonstration of operational improvement, strategic planning, task management, and team collaboration, alongside the ability to effectively report and communicate with Heads of Departments (HODs).

Key responsibilities

Champion the adoption of IT and AI solutions- such as predictive analytics, automated document processing, and AI-driven route optimization to streamline operations and eliminate bottlenecks.

Continuously evaluate and refine daily freight forwarding operations (Air, Sea, and Land) to ensure seamless, cost-effective, and timely delivery of cargo.

Generate performance reports utilizing advanced IT tools to formulate long-term logistics strategies.

Strategically build and maintain robust relationships with shipping lines, airlines, transporters, and international agents.

Effectively report and communicate strategic recommendations, department metrics, and margin improvement plans to HODs and senior management.

Manage and execute the day-to-day workflow of the forwarding department, prioritizing tasks to meet tight shipping deadlines and operational KPIs.

Leverage deep knowledge of Malaysian customs regulations to ensure 100% compliance across all clearance processes, proactively managing tasks to avoid delays or penalties.

Oversee the timely renewal of customs and freight forwarding licenses, utilizing proven experience to maintain uninterrupted and fully licensed operations.

Manage, train, and mentor the forwarding team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, high performance, and technological adaptation.

Work collaboratively with internal teams, external partners, and HODs to ensure departmental goals align with the broader company vision.

About you

A minimum of 15 years of experience in forwarding management, or an equivalent track record of concrete, high-impact achievements in a similar leadership capacity.

Strong IT literacy with a specific focus on understanding how to leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) and automated systems within logistics and supply chain management.

Comprehensive understanding of international trade, Incoterms, port operations, and global freight forwarding protocols.

Exceptional problem-solving abilities, strong task delegation, and excellent team leadership.

Highly articulate with excellent communication skills in both English and Bahasa Malaysia, specifically demonstrating the ability to effectively present to and collaborate with HODs.
