Job summary

SARAWAK OIL PALMS BERHAD is seeking a Foreman/Asst. Foreman/Mechanic based at Estates/Workshop to oversee maintenance of agricultural machinery and heavy equipment in plantations and our workshop.

Ideal candidates hold a relevant diploma or vocational certificate with at least two years of hands-on experience. You will supervise mechanics, plan maintenance, ensure safety and compliance with company standards, and support in troubleshooting and repairs.

Qualifications

• Certificate (Vocational/MLVK) or diploma in automotive/ heavy equipment engineering or related field.
• Minimum 2 years in diagnosing, servicing, repairing, and replacing components of tractors, excavators, trucks, or heavy machinery.
• Experience in oil palm plantation, palm oil mill, or workshop preferred.
• Ability to interpret manuals, service guides, and repair specifications.
• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Willing to work in rural conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine servicing, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on agricultural machinery, heavy equipment, trucks, light vehicles, and other mechanical equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine faults, and carry out repairs efficiently to minimise equipment downtime.
• Inspect equipment regularly to ensure it is safe, reliable, and in good operating condition.
• Replace defective or worn components and ensure repairs comply with manufacturer specifications and Company standards.
• Supervise and guide mechanics or workshop assistants to ensure quality workmanship and timely completion of maintenance activities.
• Plan and coordinate daily workshop activities, job assignments, and maintenance schedules.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, service reports, and spare parts usage.
• Monitor the availability of spare parts, tools, and workshop equipment, and recommend replenishment when necessary.
• Ensure compliance with the Company's safety policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) requirements.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and provide technical support to minimise operational disruptions.
