Job summary

Dyson Institute in Johor Bahru is seeking a Design Manager to lead the technical delivery of Floorcare development programmes. You will provide engineering leadership across cross‑functional teams, ensuring high standards of quality, performance and manufacturability.

You will bridge Dyson’s global RDD organisation with Malaysian development and manufacturing partners, drive technical decision‑making, and coach the Johor team to build capability and deliver innovative products.

Qualifications

Significant experience in product design and development.
Experience with end-to-end product development, from design to manufacturing.
Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex technical projects.
Strong communication and stakeholder management.
Commercial awareness balancing cost, quality and delivery.

Responsibilities

Lead delivery of Floorcare development programmes from concept through industrialisation.
Act as technical contact across Engineering, Operations, Quality, Procurement and Programme Management.
Align Malaysia activities with Dyson's global engineering standards.
Define development plans, resources and priorities with managers.
Lead technical reviews, risk assessments and problem-solving.
Collaborate with partners in Malaysia for product development and validation.
Translate high-level requirements into actionable development plans.
Ensure solutions meet performance, safety, quality and manufacturability.
Support capability building through coaching and leadership.
Represent Engineering during reviews and stakeholder discussions.
Promote collaboration between Johor and global teams.
