Job summary

Dyson in Johor Bahru is seeking a Design Manager to lead Floorcare development programmes within our RDD organisation. You will provide engineering leadership across cross-functional teams, translating product requirements into actionable development plans and ensuring quality, reliability and manufacturability.

Based in Malaysia, you will coordinate with global Dyson engineering standards and external partners, drive technical reviews and risk assessments, and mentor the Johor team to build

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Product Design, Science or related technical discipline.
• Significant experience in product design and development within technology or consumer products.
• Knowledge of end-to-end product development including validation, tooling, industrialisation and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of Floorcare development programmes from concept through industrialisation and production readiness.
• Act as the primary technical point of contact for assigned projects, coordinating activities across Engineering, Operations, Quality, Procurement and Programme Management teams.
• Drive alignment between Malaysia-based development activities and Dyson's global engineering standards, processes and governance.
• Work closely with project managers and technical leads to define development plans, resource requirements and delivery priorities.
• Lead technical reviews, risk assessments and structured problem-solving activities to ensure project milestones are achieved.
• Collaborate with engineering, development and manufacturing partners in Malaysia to support product development, validation and industrialisation activities.
• Manage technical risks, issues and dependencies, escalating where required to maintain programme delivery.
• Translate high-level product requirements into actionable development plans and cross-functional workstreams.
• Ensure engineering solutions meet the required standards for product performance, safety, quality, reliability, cost and manufacturability.
• Support capability building within the Johor development organisation through coaching, knowledge sharing and technical leadership.
• Represent Engineering during programme reviews, milestone assessments and stakeholder discussions.
• Promote effective collaboration between the Johor team, Dyson's global engineering teams and external partners.
