ANDRITZ SDN BHD is seeking a Finance & Tax Manager in Malaysia to own corporate accounting, cash flow optimization, and tax compliance. You will lead a small team, manage project accounting under MFRS 15 and MFRS 11, and ensure timely tax filings for SST and Form C, while coordinating SAP integration with global IT.
You will report to the MD/CFO and collaborate closely with head office governance, driving strong financial reporting and risk mitigation across the division.
Reporting to: Managing Director / Chief Financial Officer
Position Summary
The Finance & Tax Manager serves as a critical strategic and operational co-pilot within the Malaysian engineering and construction division. Operating under a dual-reporting matrix to the local Managing Director / Chief Financial Officer (MD/CFO), this individual takes full ownership of corporate accounting, cash flow optimization, and comprehensive tax compliance. The role leads a dedicated team of 3 to 4 finance professionals, balancing complex statutory requirements (such as MFRS 15 project accounting and e-Invoicing) with structured corporate financial reporting mandates from Head Office.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Executive Co-Piloting: Partner with the MD/CFO with clear, group reporting packages, financial variance models, and adherence to group governance guidelines.
Team Leadership & Development: Supervise, mentor, and evaluate a high-performing team of 3 to 4 accounting personnel. Direct day-to-day accounting workflows, ensure appropriate segregation of duties, and manage professional upskilling across the unit.
Project Accounting & Revenue Recognition (MFRS 15): Govern complex contract financial tracking, utilizing the percentage-of-completion method. Oversee progressive billings, retention assets, back-to-back subcontractor costs, and joint venture/consortium accounting allocations under MFRS 11.
Malaysian Tax Governance: Oversee the timely preparation, review, and oversee filing of local corporate tax returns (Form C). Mitigate regulatory risks by enforcing accurate Sales and Service Tax (SST) rules on construction services and handling complex Section 107A Withholding Taxes for foreign sub-contractors and consultants amongst others.
e-Invoicing Framework Execution: Lead, deploy, and audit the organization's adherence to the Malaysian Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) e-Invoicing mandate, ensuring all procurement systems and subcontractor billing architectures are fully integrated and compliant.
Treasury & Project Financing: Manage local working capital runways and liquid cash flows. Coordinate the timely structure, issuance, and tracking of critical financial instruments required for large-scale tenders, including bank guarantees, letters of credit, and performance bonds.
Audit & External Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors, internal group auditors, legal counsels, tax consultants, and LHDN officials during audits or standard investigations.
SAP Implementation: Liaise with Global IT on the implementation of SAP
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Professional Credentials: Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or Taxation. Mandatory active membership as a Chartered Accountant with the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA). Complementary credentials (e.g., CTIM, ACCA, CPA, MICPA) are highly desirable.
Professional Experience: A minimum of 6 to 8 years of corporate accounting and tax management experience, with at least 3 years in a direct supervisory capacity managing a team of finance professionals.
Industry Track Record: Proven background (minimum 3 years) working directly within the Malaysian Engineering, EPCC, Heavy Infrastructure, or Main Contractor Construction sectors.
Technical Proficiency: Advanced competency in applying Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (specifically MFRS 15 and MFRS 11). Hands‑on experience navigating computer‑based accounting software and knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) applications
Communication Skills: Good written and verbal business communication capabilities, with a proven track record of managing competing operational and corporate expectations from the MD/CFO.
