Job summary

Michael Page is representing a manufacturing client in Shah Alam seeking a Finance Leader to run the full spectrum of finance and accounting for the Cables Division. You will manage monthly closes, budgeting, forecasting, costing, and WIP reporting, while guiding decision-making with financial insights.

The role requires an accounting or finance degree with ACCA/CPA and preferably manufacturing or EPCC project accounting experience, plus strong leadership to manage a team of 4.

Qualifications

• A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional certification such as ACCA, CPA, or equivalent.
• Manufacturing or project accounting experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards and compliance.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee finance and accounting for the Cables Division with accurate reporting.
• Manage monthly close, management reporting, budgeting, forecasting and cash flow planning.
• Oversee manufacturing accounting: product costing, inventory valuation, standard costing, variance analysis.
• Monitor project accounting for EPCC projects: costing, revenue recognition, WIP reporting.
• Partner with operations, engineering, and project teams to support performance and decisions.
• Analyze financial and operational performance and provide profitability insights.
• Lead annual budgeting and revisions; ensure alignment with objectives.
• Develop and coach a team of 4 finance professionals; strengthen controls.
• Ensure statutory/compliance and audits; drive digitisation and AI-driven finance initiatives.

Job Description

• Lead and oversee the full spectrum of finance and accounting functions for the Cables Division, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Manage monthly closing, management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning.
• Oversee manufacturing accounting activities including product costing, inventory valuation, standard costing, and variance analysis.
• Monitor and control project accounting for EPCC projects, including project costing, revenue recognition, profitability analysis, and work-in-progress (WIP) reporting.
• Partner closely with operations, engineering, and project teams to support business performance and decision-making.
• Analyse financial and operational performance, providing insights and recommendations to improve profitability, efficiency, and cost management.
• Drive annual budgeting exercises and periodic forecast revisions, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of 4 finance professionals while strengthening internal controls and accounting processes.
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, taxation matters, external audits, and company policies.
• Champion digitisation and AI-driven finance initiatives, leveraging tools such as Claude AI to enhance reporting, analytics, process automation, and financial decision support.

The Successful Applicant

• A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional certification such as ACCA, CPA, or equivalent.
• Candidates with Manufacturing or Project Accounting experience are preferred
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards and compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in financial analysis and forecasting tools.
• Experience in managing budgets and implementing cost control measures.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
