SICK SENSOR (MALAYSIA) SDN. BHD. in Penang is seeking a Field Application Engineer to bridge customers with SICK products and solutions.
You will perform product demonstrations, feasibility studies, PoCs, and testing to validate performance and suitability. Responsibilities include installing, commissioning, and validating solutions at customer sites, providing technical support during pre-sales, and collaborating with sales and engineering teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Roles and Responsibilities
Work closely with customers and sales teams to understand application requirements and recommend suitable solutions using SICK products and technologies.
Conduct product demonstrations, feasibility studies, proof-of-concepts (PoCs), and application testing to validate solution suitability and performance.
Provide technical support during pre-sales activities, assisting with solution development and application recommendations.
Perform installation, commissioning, configuration, and validation of products and solutions at customer sites.
Troubleshoot product and application-related issues, providing timely resolution and escalating complex cases when necessary.
Support the integration of SICK products with customer equipment, PLCs, machine vision systems, and third‑party automation platforms.
Prepare technical documentation, application reports, presentations, and product configurations to support customer projects and solution implementation.
Provide technical training and knowledge transfer to customers, partners, and internal stakeholders on product functionality and application best practices.
Collaborate with Sales, Service, Product Management, and Engineering teams to ensure successful project execution and customer satisfaction.
Gather customer feedback and application requirements to support product improvements and solution enhancements.
Maintain sound technical and application knowledge of SICK products, industrial automation, machine vision, and emerging technologies relevant to assigned industries.
Job Requirements
At least a Diploma/Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, Instrumentation, Control Engineering, or related disciplines.
At least 2–3 years of relevant experience in Application Engineering, Industrial Automation, Machine Vision, Systems Integration, or related technical fields.
Knowledge of industrial sensors, factory automation, PLCs, machine vision systems (2D/3D), industrial communication networks, and control systems.
Hands‑on experience in product testing, installation, commissioning, and technical troubleshooting.
Experience supporting customer applications through product demonstrations, feasibility studies, or proof‑of‑concept activities is preferred.
Familiarity with system integration involving automation equipment and third‑party platforms will be an advantage.
Exposure to Digital Transformation, Industry 4.0, condition monitoring, machine visualization, or smart manufacturing solutions will be an advantage.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a hands‑on approach to troubleshooting and solution validation.
Possess excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
Fluent in both verbal and written English, with strong proficiency in technical and business communication.
Customer‑focused, proactive, and able to build strong working relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
Able to work independently and travel to customer sites as required.
