Job summary

Unicomp Technology is seeking an experienced Field Application Engineer specializing in X-ray technology to provide technical expertise and application support across industrial NDT applications including SMT/PCBA, semiconductor, automotive die casting, and F&B sectors. You will collaborate with sales, support product demonstrations, and deliver on-site training.

Travel within the service territory, maintain detailed records, and ensure compliance with safety and industry standards.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• 3–5 years of proven experience as Field Engineer, Field Service Engineer or similar.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities; able to diagnose complex issues independently.
• Proficiency in reading/interpreting technical documentation, schematics, and engineering drawings.
• Excellent communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical customers.
• Willingness to travel regularly and possess a valid driving license.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Field Application Engineer to join our growing engineering team. As a Field Application Engineer (FAE) specializing in X-ray technology, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and application support for X-ray solutions across various industrial non-destructive testing (NDT) applications, including SMT/PCBA, semiconductor, automotive die casting, and food & beverage industries.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with the Sales teams to understand customer requirements and develop tailored technical solutions that address specific application needs.
• Conduct product demonstrations, technical presentations, workshops, customer product/sample testing, evaluation, prepare test reports, communicate test results and technical findings to relevant stakeholders.
• Provide on-site technical support and training to customers, including product installation, system configuration, operation, troubleshooting and application support.
• Collaborate with R&D teams to translate customer requirements into technical solutions, application plans, project proposals, and support the implementation, system adjustment, image optimization, testing and validation of these solutions.
• Collect and analyze customer feedback, industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor products, and provide relevant market and technical insights to support product development and business growth.
• Maintain accurate records of technical, equipment, testing, application, customer support, and service activities and follow-up actions.
• Ensure all technical activities and applications comply with relevant safety, quality, and industry standards and requirements.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Department Head or immediate supervisor.

Requirements:

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline
• Minimum 3 to 5 years of proven experience as a Field Engineer, Field Service Engineer, or similar technical field-based role
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to diagnose complex technical issues independently
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical documentation, schematics, and engineering drawings
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical customers
• Competency in using diagnostic tools, testing equipment, and software relevant to field engineering work
• Valid driving license and willingness to travel regularly within the assigned service territory
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate documentation and records
• Ability to work independently whilst coordinating effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders
• Preferred experience with industrial equipment, instrumentation, or automation systems
• Proficiency in Malay, Mandarin, and English, both written and spoken; proficiency in additional languages would be an advantage.
• Certification in relevant technical fields or manufacturer-specific training is an advantage
• Willingness to travel overseas for training, customer visits and project assignments.
