Job summary

WAKOMAS Chemical Sdn Bhd invites applications for an Assistant Manager - Fertilizer Trading to drive fertilizer trading, sales and market development. You will build and manage customer relationships, identify opportunities, and coordinate with finance, supply chain and logistics to ensure smooth order execution.

You will analyse markets, negotiate terms, monitor margins and report performance to management, while guiding junior team members and contributing to strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

• Degree in Business, Marketing, International Trade, Chemistry, Agriculture or related field.
• 4–6 years of relevant experience in fertilizer, chemical, petrochemical, commodity or international trading.
• Experience in the fertilizer industry or fertilizer-related products is a strong advantage.
• Good understanding of trading, pricing, commercial negotiation, market analysis and contract execution.

Responsibilities

• Execute fertilizer trading, sales and marketing activities to achieve targeted sales volume, revenue, margin and profitability.
• Develop new customers, markets and business opportunities while maintaining strong relationships with existing customers, suppliers and key industry stakeholders.
• Monitor global and regional fertilizer markets, including pricing trends, supply and demand movements, competitor activities and relevant market developments.
• Conduct commercial negotiations on pricing, volume, payment terms, delivery terms and contractual conditions with customers and suppliers.
• Manage and follow through on sales and purchase contracts to ensure transactions are executed according to agreed commercial terms and international trading practices.
• Work closely with Finance, Supply Chain and Logistics to coordinate order fulfilment, shipments, documentation, credit control and timely collection.
• Prepare sales forecasts, market intelligence, trading analysis and performance reports to support management planning and decision-making.
• Monitor sales performance, trading margins and profitability, and highlight potential commercial risks or corrective actions to the immediate superior.
• Identify potential supply sources and business partners to strengthen the Company's fertilizer product portfolio and market competitiveness.
• Represent the Company at relevant customer meetings, supplier meetings, industry conferences, exhibitions and networking events when required.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer, supplier, opportunity and market information in the Company's CRM or relevant business systems.
• Support the Manager / Senior Manager - Fertilizer Trading in implementing business plans, sales strategies and market development initiatives.
• Provide guidance and support to junior team members, where applicable, to ensure effective execution of commercial activities and achievement of agreed KPIs.
• Perform other ad hoc duties and responsibilities assigned by the immediate superior.
